I decided to pick a hotel near Shin-Osaka Station since I used the station as home base for a 7 day Japan trip. I stayed here for 4 nights. I arrived in Kansai Airport and took the Haruka Limited Airport Express on the JR network to get to this hotel in about 45 mins. It is only three blocks south and the hotel is visible from the station. The area also offers a 7-11 and a few eateries near by and of course, the Shin-Osaka Station offers similar and more services. It is also close to the Osaka subway on the Mid?suji line via Shin-Osaka or the Nishinakajima-Minamigata subway stations.
Everything is smaller in Japan so are the hotel rooms. There is just enough room for two twin beds, a night stand, and desk/table. The TV offers about 10 Japanese channels and occasionally offer English programs in SAP. The bathroom is a functional 4 ft by 4 ft standard issue plastic prefab; taller people might feel claustrophobic inside. The online pictures are very representative but think smaller.
The first 3 nights I didn't have internet but the hotel offers complementary internet via ethernet in select rooms which I discovered on my last night at this hotel. Please inquire at the front desk. The staff speaks very limited English; be patience and talk slowly, knowing a few Japanese words can help such as pasocon for computer.
