We came here in Dec.
Rooms were a little cold but this made sitting in front of the log burning fire even nicer .
The Ha Hoose (residents lounge) is so gorgeous. I can't even describe it, it has to be seen. Perfect if you’re looking for an oldie worldie Scottish hotel.
We've booked our wedding here we fell in love with it so much.

It was very cold when I arrived at this old place so it was nice to get inside and check in and the lady on reception was most helpful. Typical old Scottish hotel but I was slightly concerned when she told me to leave my pass card in the slot in the room so that my heater would stay on because apparently this was a 'green' room and the heater would only be deployed when a guest was in the room. Great idea but in the middle of December-it was freeezing! The room itself was nice with an absolutely to die for view over the River Dee and breakfast was splendid, but on the whole I thought this place could be so much better and it lacked soul and warmth(!!!) It must be awesome in summer though. Apart from sleeping partially clothed because the room was so cold, not bad. Fortunately my company paid for my room, but if that had been paid for with my own hard earned, I would have complained.

My partner and i went to this hotel for 2 nights (celebration package) for a romantic secluded getaway.
On arrival were greeted by extremely friendly staff who told us about the history of the hotel (very interesting), we were shown to our room which was a deluxe room on the ground floor - can definately recommend this one as gorgeous views and the bath in the bathroom lies below a huge window allowing you to sip champagne whilst watching the ducks go down the river. flowers on arrival were better than i thought might be.
ambiance was lovely felt like we were treated like vip's! amazing been that it only cost slight over 200 pounds.
food lovely and staff very helpful an friendly.very romantic restaurant, didnt want the weekend to end and will definately be returning!!!!

I've just returned from a wedding at the hotel which was really fantasic. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food at the reception was really great, didn't taste mass catered at all, so I can only imagine the food in the restaurant is good too. The buffet breakfast was of a reasonable standard and we all commented on how attentive the service was with regards to clearing tables, bringing tea, etc and it was all done with a smile which you don't always get these days!
I don't know what the reviewer who says the rooms are bleak is talking about. I saw several rooms and they were all very nicely appointed and decorated and very clean. Bed was comfy.
The location is beautiful, right on the river and we too saw the salmon jumping which was so nice. The walk down the river is great and the surrounding area is beautiful. I'd recommend it for a quiet break to anyone. Ask for a room facing the back for the views.
I liked the fact that when I checked in I told them my husband wasn't with me and they adjusted the room rate down immediately for single occupancy but still left me is a nice large double room. That certainly wouldn't happen 'down south!'. As another reviewer commented they have some excellent deals, three nights for the price of two and dinner included at very reasonable rates.
I'd imagine that if you were there the same weekend as a wedding you'd have a different experience so that would be worth checking. The weekend we were there there was our friends wedding and in addition there was one on the Friday and the Sunday and we were far from quiet and went to bed late.
Overall very nice indeed and with honestly the best customer service I've experienced in this country for a long time.
