Reasonable for the price - switch off the Disco

This is a pleasant down-town boutique hotel walking distance from the Taj but with rooms at 1/3rd the price - a reaslistic option for business and pleasure travellers on a budget in a city very short of decent rooms. Rooms are basic but comfortable. Service is friendly. The hotel is nearly always full and you need to book well in advance - and don't count on extending your stay.
Downside (1) as noted by many visitors is the blasted disco which pumps a throbbing beat into every room until 2.30 am. However, I believe this is to be closed shortly and converted into additional rooms, which will be a significant improvement. Downside (2) skip the buffet breakfast which is unappealing and gave this correspondent a rare dose of the old Bombay-belly. Very inconvenient on a business trip.

We stayed at the Gordon House for one night at the end of a two week tour which was a great trip in all other respects. We simply could not have stayed another night, because of the noise. It is virtually impossible to sleep, mainly because of the nightclub (it's like having a disco in your room). However they also have external wall mounted air conditioning units which are also incredibly noisy.
As for the rooms, they are distinctly average, and the bathrooms are tiny. Breakfast was the poorest that we experienced during our trip, and the staff were the least friendly.
In summary, I would go as far as to say that this is the most unpleasant and uncomfortable night that I have spent in any hotel.

My husband, 10 year old son and I travelled to India to visit my seventeen year old daughter who is an exchange student, and living in India for a year. We all travelled together for a two week tour and our last two nights before our separate departures were to be at the Gordon House.
Unfortunately I read the Gordon House reviews only days before our departure to India. I have come to rely on the Trip Advisor hotel reviews, and when I saw all of the negative reviews regarding the disco on the bottom floor disrupting guests stays I immediately contacted our travel agent to request a guarantee of rooms (we had 2) on a higher floor or another hotel. Our travel agent apologized and said she would see what she could do, and then we weren’t in contact again.
Upon our arrival and check in I immediately requested rooms on a higher floor and away from the disco which fell on deaf ears as the room my daughter and I shared on the 3rd floor was above the disco. My husband and son had a room across the way from us about 20 yards. The hotel is very clean, and the rooms if a bit small are decorated very nicely. It is also situated in a great location to go walk around and do some shopping. Also there is a restaurant on the 1st floor, Dim Sum, that was excellent and enjoyed by all of us.
At around 10PM the music begins, and not only do you feel the strong vibrations, you could hear the music and hear the D.J. I had earplugs in and it did not help one bit. I spent the entire night awake and miserable; my daughter was up off and on. At 1:30 a.m. I phoned my husband’s room, he was not sleeping either because of the noise and his room was not directly above it. At about 4 a.m. it stops and we were able to sleep for about two hours before having to get up for our scheduled tour.
I complained to the manager and requested another room, to which I was told none were available. Shortly after he told us a room was available on the second floor but opposite the disco. I reluctantly agreed but after talking to a tour guide we were told that no one has anything good to say about staying at Gordon House, that one couple recently said they would rather sleep in a car on the street. Knowing that it was our last evening with our daughter and anticipating our long trip home we moved to the Suba Palace next door. Although not as nice d?cor wise it was clean and we all had a great night sleep.
The Gordon House manager was apologetic and understanding and had no problem helping us move our luggage out. The Gordon House needs to decide whether it is going to be a hotel or a disco, but it should not remain both.

Please be careful. There is a nightclub on the first floor and because of the central atrium, you can't escape the noise, which is at its height at week ends and starts at 10.30 pm. We had a room on the 4th floor and had to book out.

Great find in Mubai. There is a disco on the lower floor but we didn't hear ift from our rooms. The restaurants on the ground floor are terrific and our teenage daughter, who was keen to have suchi after so much Indian food on our trip, was very impressed.
