Terrible!!!!!!!!!!!

I normally don't waste my time writing reviews, but I was so disgusted with this hotel that I went out of my way to find this forum to voice my opinion.
DO NOT STAY AT THE CHATEAU! Nothing but problems from the time we checked in. My wife and I received the "Chateau Package" as a gift which included a free night stay, dinner, and breakfast. When we checked in they tried to charge us about $15 which I suspect was an increase in room rates since the package was purchased. After some complaining, the charge was waived. The rooms were very average and outdated. Nothing special or extravagant as you may expect from the hotel's lavish exterior. I would expect to find that room-quality at a Holiday Inn, Days Inn, etc. The next morning we went downstairs for breakfast at 9:45 (breakfast supposed to stop @ 10 am). They said they were no longer serving breakfast so we had to pay for the lunch buffet. The lunch buffet was supposed to begin at 10am (which the server's claimed), but wasn't actually ready until 10:30, so we ended up waiting 45 minutes to eat.
And now for the best part, a day after we checked out, I was looking at my online bank statement when I noticed there was a room-charge for the Chateau in the amount of $208.98. The charge was still pending, so my wife called the Chateua to dispute. They said the charge wouldn't be processed. Well, here we are on June 16, 2008, I look at my online statement, and you'll never guess what I find...a processed payment of $208.98 to the Chateau. I've now spent the past hour or so calling the Chateau and my bank trying to get this resolved. The hotel is telling me they don't have my money...that the money wasn't deposited. So I can't get a refund from the hotel, and I must fill out dispute paperwork with my bank to get the funds back into my account.
People like to stay at a luxurious hotel for the relaxing environment, and to feel wealthy...even if it is just for one night. My experience was a [profane] [explitive] nightmare! Not only will I never stay at the Chateau ever again, but I will make it a personal goal of mine to inform everyone not to make the same mistake I did. And judging by others' reviews, I'm not the only one who had an unpleasant experience.
Surprisingly great customer service - great stay

We spent the weekend at the Chateau - April 11th-13th. We've never stayed there before, and we were a bit leary after reading the mixed reviews on here. We were pleasantly surprised - and had a great stay!
We arrived early (around 1pm - checkin is 3pm) - and asked if we could check into our room early. The front desk manager went out of his way to check with housekeeping - to see if any of the junior king rooms were cleaned and ready (they had been sold out the night before). One was ready - so we were able to check in and unpack - and spend some time at the pool before meeting our daughter for dinner.
Our room was a very spacious, oversized king. There was a full-sized sleeper sofa - table and plush desk chair - and a mini refrigerator/freezer. The bathroom had one sink/mirror outside the bathroom - and two closets... and then another sink inside the bathroom. This was great - as my husband and I could both get ready at the same time. The room was very clean, and the heater/A-C ran well (with built in thermostat - where you could set the temp you wanted). We were concerned that there might be a lot of noise - as our room was right across from the elevators (3rd floor) - and our floor was open outside the hall down to the lobby on the 2nd floor. We were pleased that the noise level was low.
The pool area was also quite nice. It was a large pool, given that it was indoor. There was also a nice, newer jacuzzi/spa. We had the pool area to ourselves for the time we used it (about an hour and a half) - probably because most people hadn't checked in yet.
Every employee we encountered while there was friendly and helpful. Twice, when we got on the elevators - employees were there and immediately asked if we'd like to use the elevator before them (not necessary - but definitely customer-focused). We needed extra towels after swimming - so we'd also have a set for the morning - and they brought it within 5 minutes of our call.
We only ate in the restaurant one morning for breakfast - but the buffet was very nice - including made-to-order omelets.
We stopped in the bar/lounge twice - which had a very warm/friendly atmosphere.
The Chateau is definitely the best hotel we've stayed in - in the area (we've been down there several times - as our daughter goes to college there). We'll definitely return!

Bought a prepaid pacakage. Things were not organized when we arrived. Wine and fruit basket (paid to deliver to room) didn't have a bottle opener. Front desk clerk stated that we could come down and pick one up, if we wanted. Package purcahsed included (dinner and drink coupons, breakfast coupons, wine and fruit basket, the works, etc.). Had to keep going back to the front desk for all of these items. These items should have been given to us upon check in. Given wrong coupons for dinner. Ordered dinner and then later told what we ordered was not available. Checked out and owed money for a room movie, which we expected. However, 3 - 4 days later a 2nd charge was placed on our credit card. Called the hotel and was told that the charge is for the taxes owed on the room. Total amount should have been on the bill at check out. Spoke with manager about these customer service failures and he apologized, and stated that if we stayed with them again in the future to call him and he would take care of us. This was my evening to spend with my wife and treat her to a wonderful evening since she had to work on New Year's Eve. Turned into an unpleasant experience. Customer Service was not on the menu that night. We will never stay at this hotel again.

We found this hotel a couple months ago. We had dinner there with our daughter who attends school in the area. We thought the hotel was charming and decided to stay there on our recent trip.
Check in was was fast. We had drinks at the bar and found the bartender very friendly. The house wine was actually a nice brand.
Our room was beautiful. I have no idea why anyone would say this hotel is outdated. The hotel decor is "Old World" style, so the artwork, furniture and feel is suppose to be OLD!
The bathroom was filled with wonderful towels and travel samples from "Bath and Body" of lotion, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The bed was very comfortable.
Actually, the staff went beyond my expectations. we called them when we were getting ready to check out and asked if we could order a cinnamon bread we were served when we had dinner there. We remembered it tasted more like a coffee cake for breakfast than a dinner bread. Anyway, this was Easter Sunday, they were serving probably 250 people Easter Brunch, but they brought a loaf of bread to the front desk for us to purchase when we checked out! We were amazed!

During the 1st day of a convention at the Staywood Hotel and Convention Center in Normal, IL this past weekend, the bank holding the mortgage on the literally CLOSED the Staywood at 5p on Friday. Suddenly our 3 day convention (over 100 people from all over the state of Illinois) was displaced and we literallly all had to evacuate the property. With the help of a rep of the local Visitor's bureau Jumer's Chateau jumped in an rescued us under extraordinary circumstances. Within an hour, we had meeting rooms, all our convention meals were arranged (2 breakfast meeetings, a luncheon and a dinner banquet over 3 days) and hotel rooms were arranged for part of our members for the 1st night and all members for the 2nd night. The meals were wonderful, the meeting rooms were well equiped, service from waitstaff and all managers was exceptional. On numerous occasions I heard someone say "if this is what they can do without notice, imagine what they could do with a day or two!" I would return to this facility for both personal and business travel at any time and would highly recommend it to anyone planning a meeting of any sort.
