I would tend to agree with the previous reviewer. The owners, Pam and Lee, are very friendly and very helpful but the accomodation could do with some work. Don't get me wrong the place was both clean and spacious but the noise from the other rooms was a bit much. If only someone could teach people to close doors and not slam them it would improve things greatly. If you go to the Salida area take the time and go to the Croc farm down the road they are something to see.

We stayed just one night in the Circle R which is a 50s style motel. We found the owners to be very friendly and helpful- going out of their way to be welcoming and to research information we needed to help us with the next stage our our trip. We spent a couple of hours chatting with them over drinks and they were good company.
As a counterbalance to these good points - In our view the accommodation is at the stage where it needs some investment and also our room was grubby - the standard of cleanliness was below what we expected.
The owners gave us tips about where to get both dinner and breakfast. Both recommendations were good. They also provided us with a 10% discount card for breakfast at a local restaurant which was great.

I visited the Circle R Motel last Spring for the first time. It was a very homey 1950's style motel. The room I stayed in had nice hard wood floors and had been hand stenciled, which was a nice touch.
The owners are both local Colorado natives, going back many generations.
It was within walking distance of a hotsprings fed swim center, and it was nice to go and soak after a day of skiing.
They are also quite close (20 min) to Monarch. I was totally surprised at how awesome the skiing was at Monarch (I'm an intermediate skier), and there were NO lines -- just goes to show you what you get when you avoid the ski areas on the I-70 corridor and spend an extra hour driving down south.
I plan to go back during the summer and hit up all the local hot springs in the area -- maybe even take in a 14ner. (note they do have a hot tub, but I'm really more of a hot springs type of gal!)
