Ripoff!

I stayed one night and found the staff mostly friendly and accomadating. The room was comfortable but the noise upstairs was terrible and water pipe noise from other rooms was annoying. The problem I had was after receiving my credit card bill they added one hundred dollars to the bill. I called and a snooty lady replied it was a charge for smoking in a non-smoking room. This is quite rediculous as I requested a smoking room and there where no signs posted or indications anywhere in or outside of the room indicating such and when I ask the desk clerk for an ashtray he said they were out so I used an empty Coke can. I plan on reporting this to AAA and AARP of which I am a member. The establishment refused to credit my account the extra hundred dollars for a seventy dollar room. Please beware!
Great Little Hotel, More Than I Expected

I'm a travel agent and needed a place to stay for night- my husbands band was playing in SLC and we decided to stay the night in town rather than drive back to Tooele. The Metopoitan was close to the venue and the rates were decent. The rooms are small but very clean, icluded continental breakfast, bathroom Bath & Body Works showering prducts, in room coffee maker, satelitte tv. The hotel has an outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was quite. The ony downfall is limited parking so if you arrive late, like after the bar closes, you may have to park on the street. We'll stay here again if the need should arise.

If you are jumping out to Salt Lake City for some skiing, like i just did, this hotel is a nice find. Yes, as one picky reviewer noted, it is a made-over Travelodge, but they did a nice job and with care. the mattresses are great and new and perfect for my back. the decor is kind of consistently Art Deco ... ok, so its not Ian Schrager, its a nice cheap and clean place to stay in central SLC. The bathroom is clean and they stock bed and bodyworks products, the coffee in the lobby is good, the service fine, the convenience terrific and the price very very cheap. I'll stay again.

The service was ok. Once we left and tried to resolve a problem they didn't want to talk to us. They tried to avoid us. The girl at the front desk was so rude and always sounded annoyed. She took messages and the person that I was trying to call never called back. I had to keep calling until I got to that person.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all. They all just try to make up excuses just to over charge you.

A Hotel With Huge Promise in Down Salt Lake City
Guest name: garrapata, Oceanside, CA
The Metropolitan is trying hard to develop an upscale image despite that it apears to be a renovated Motel 6 with a parking lot open to the street. Our room is immaculate, the staff is pet friendly, our beds are dreamy but the night staff isn't too good at managing noisy guests. Last night, the guests next to us had an epic party ; it ended at 1:00am and began again at 7:00.am. Management could not get them to settle down for the comfort of the other guests.
The Metropolitan is a hotel with immense promise due to its great location, comfy beds and pet friendly atmosphere. We'd try it again.
