Peaceful Stay at the Senggigi Beach

We stayed at the Senggigi Beach for three nights as part of a Hong Kong and Bali trip.
We flew in with Merpati Airlines on a short hop from Denpasar and were driven the short distance to the Senggigi Beach.
We were shown to a large bungalow in the extensive grounds and even though it didn't have a sea view we were more than happy with our accommodation. The verandah looked over a large lawn and garden and was a short walk to the main hotel area.
We had not booked any meals at the hotel preferring to eat in local restaurants, and we found several amazingly cheap ones for breakfast and dinner after turning left at the main entrance to the hotel and following the road for a few hundred yards.
Lombok was delightfully quiet, and the hotel did not seem to be particularly full. Guest seemed to be mostly German and Italian.
The beach on which the hotel was situated was not the most stunning, but our stay overall was very relaxing and prepared us for the 18 hour flight home!

Last month we had our son's wedding at Sengiggi Beach Hotel. The original venue we had chosen was unsuitable,so we went to this hotel to see if they could arrange accomodation for 16 guests and a wedding in 3 days.
What a wonderful wedding it turned out to be.Management and staff bent over backwards to make it a day to remember.
This is a great place to stay for couples, families or groups of friends,in fact ,some of our party are planning return visits.
The location is ideal,on a spit with snorkelling on either side, the grounds are huge withplenty of sun lounges around the pool,on the beach and the lawn. There are 3 restaurants, one is on the beach, perfect for sunset cocktails, but our favourite was the restaurant at the Pool Villa Club. For a slurge the 2 story villas at Pool Villa Club are amazing [part of the same complex] and good value for the price.

What an amazing holiday!!
My wife and I wanted a 2 week holiday which the majority was relaxing but also where we could experience a totaly different culture and an island that was easy to get around. We got all what we wanted.
Firstly the hotel was great. Service, food, rooms etc were all first class. Yes they were renovating parts of the hotel, but they had all works screened off, so you would not notice.
We enjoyed the fact that you could get away from the sellers and the Lombok culture, as the hotel would not allow any horders on the hotels beach. Every night the hotel had a different theme for dinner and they new how to present the food etc. Very picturesque and lavish gardens (kept immaculate).
Secondly, we traveled to the fish markets which was an eye opener. You must remember Lombok is a very poor country. We also got a boat trip to the Gilli islands for some snorkeling and yes that was spectacular.
Thirdly, Sengigi beach offers a good selection of resteraunts and cafes which are extremely cheap and some have great food.
It is not a holiday if you want bars or clubs (done all that).
I would recommend Lombok and the Sheraton for a very relaxing, cultural and extremely cheap holiday (Aus Dollars).

We spent five days at the Senggigi beach hotel. We made the mistake of booking the hotel through a travel agent in Bali , if we had turned up at the hotel reception we would have saved our selves about $50 a night ( We needed two rooms)
I liked this hotel. Unlike the previous reviewer we thought the food was good, we tried all the restaurants and had no complaints in any. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast. Also unlike the previous reviewer we found the rooms to be just fine. The hotel is not in the same standard as the Oberoi further up the coast but then neither is the price !!
The gardens are very attractive and well kept.
The hotel was quite busy when we were so the atmosphere was good, many other hotels ( We had a good look around) in the area were almost empty.
For me the worst thing about this hotel was the constant hassle from the locals. The beach is very popular with the local people, kids play in the sea, couples walk up and down and families have picnics and BBQs on the beach. It would be really nice to try and join in but no chance.....as soon as a tourist emerges from the hotel they are mobbed by hawkers who absolutely will not go away, much to the amusement of the other locals.
The hotel has a lovely bar at the edge of the beach where you can sit and watch the sun go down behind mount Agung on Bali. But each evening the hawkers line them selves up along the horizon so the view comprises sunset, mount Agung and hawkers rather than sunset Mount Agung and beach.
I would still recommend this hotel.
