We first stayed here 3 years ago & enjoyed it very much, in particular the very large balcony with a swing.
When our travel agent offered us a deluxe room for ?25 per night we should have realised something was wrong. As other recent reviews have reported the hotel is dirty. On arrival we did not want to accept the room but were told we could not move. We found 13 faults which we listed and handed to the hotel, they only fixed 1. The majority of the faults were related to the cleanliness of the room & could all have been easily rectified.
Picking up on another review the towels had been white once but were now only fit to dry a wet dog. There were holes in the sheets & pillowcases.
The excuse given was that they are to be refurbished, this does not excuse it being dirty

I agree with all the recent reviews. We had only paid ?70 for 2 nights so I was not expecting 5 star luxury, and I had read the reviews on Trip Advisor. We had a pizza at lunchtime and could not eat it all as there was a hair in the food. The tables, chairs and umbrellas were all very shabby with rips in every single chair and umbrella. We did enjoy the breakfast and thought the room was nice and big and it was clean. The pool was fantastic, best part of the hotel. Prices of drinks were well over double any other restaurant or bar. So as long as you dont eat or drink at the hotel and get a good cheap deal it is an ok hotel.

We stayed at the Pavilion for a week in early April. We booked direct with the hotel and paid $190 Aus plus taxes which in insight was a real mistake. I can only concur with the previous review and the criticisms thereof. The hotel was opened in 2000 and would have been the best hotel in the area. at the time. The lobby, staircases etc were constructed in marble and were magnificent. However not one dollar has been spent on the hotel or rooms, since . Apart from the pool area the whole hotel is rundown. All of the room towels and linen were badly frayed and in poor repair. Even the dining room staff had badly frayed uniforms. Some with collars actually separated from the body of the uniforms uniform. The food in the restaurant for dinner was poor. In fact we were the only customers which should have put us on alert..
I travel extensively each year and have never posted a bad report against a hotel. There had to be a first time and this is it.
I hope the Hotel management do read these reviews so that they can improve their act

We stayed in a suite on the 5th floor. The rooms were very tired (scratched floor, dirty walls), definately need a refurbishment. The room was not as clean as it should have been, there were handprints on the mirrors and patio doors, dust in the corners of the room and lots of ants! Towels were completely grey although they were clean. I think the cot provided to us was older than me! The mattress was ripped and had been taped up with sticky tape (which was peeling off!). The sheets on the cot when we arrived had blood stains on them.
We ordered room service one night, it arrived promptly but was horrible, we didn't eat it (and we aren't that fussy). Breakfast was OK.
We never received a turn down whilst we were there, but we did put the 'do not disturb' sign on at 9pm, so perhaps it was just very late!
There is construction going on all around the hotel. The noise didn't bother us in the room with the aircon on, but on the balcony it was quite noisy and seemed to go on from early morning til about 10pm.
For what we paid it was definatley not worth it and I have only given it 2 stars because the pool was nice and check in/out was efficient.

Pavilion Queen Bay Hotel.
After spending 2 fabulous weeks at this hotel here is my review.
The hotel has a great location with just a short tuk tuk ride or walk from Ao Nang Beach Walk with connections to all the beautiful ,lush, islands beyond.
The hotels has a great 3 story pool and waterfall that seamlessly connects to the lager structure of this grand hotel with top floor breakfast dining overlooking erected, green mountains, scattered randomly in the sea of Krabi.
There are a few good restaurants right outside the hotel for the lazy days one might spend by the pool.
The pool bar has prices that don't belong anywhere in Thailand where a burger & fries will run you up to 500 bath.
Get your drinks and food elsewhere.
The service at the hotels is good, with friendly and helpful staff and the smile is always present. Considering the smile as just a facade you can draw your own conclusions.
The management lent us a room to shower in prior to our late departure so we could wash the sand out of our hair before leaving. This was a BIG plus.
The tailor at the hotels got turned enraged after we were in for a look and half heartedly promised to come back after he could not deliver what we wanted, bugging me with questions of why we had not come back in the days after, rendering me to avoid this section of the hotel for the duration of our stay.
The room are large, and of great standard in Asian perspective but not western. I felt they were run down and in such contrition that they would be considered a 2 star by western standards.
If the rooms and the hotel as a hole had a total makeover this would indeed be the 5 star they claim to be. The aircon in the room did not work properly and had just one mode and would turn the room frizzing cold during the night. Turn it off..? It would turn too hot with poor quality of air.
The aircon would also generate a large puddle of water on the floor creating a large rot problems in the years to come.
The gym at the hotel was a joke, with smelly wall to wall and defect equipment.
The construction outside the hotel did not bother us but due ask for a room on the top floors. 4 and up.
In conclusion I liked the hotel but would not stay there again. It was below expectations. I can not recommend the hotel but would not dis-incurrage people form staying there either.
I will be back to Ao Nang in the years to come.
