From minute one a wonderful experience. This started at the airport where the Galadari has its own dedicated meet and greet desk. They will organise a taxi to hotel for $18 or 2,000 SLR. Our room was massive which was good as 3 of us were sharing. Still plenty of room. 5 minutes to all types of shops if you walk via the SL version of twin towers WTC which is next door. The WTC being located next door makes this hotel extremely safe. Food was exceptional with a good variation of european and asian choice. Good pool, gym and tennis courts. Highlight - the staff. Lowlight - Colombo air polution, which is not too bad around theb Galadari.

Stayed with my 3 yr old daughter & would recommend to everyone. First time in Sri Lanka & staff treated us amazingly, very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was a buffet that catered for all tastes, Sri Lankan & Western foods, Pancakes & Waffles cooked to order, amazing omelettes,fresh fruits & juices & so much more!! Room service was quick & staff very friendly. Bedrooms cleaned twice a day & rooms fully air conditioned! Cannot stress how good the staff were, so helpful, especially when my daughters toy dog went to the laundry inside the bedcovers!!! Within 10 mins her doggy was return by a lovely member of staff who also gave her a chocolate in a box!!! This was a regular thing in the 10 days we stayed there, 2 chocolates left for us on a room service card whenever they made the room up!!! All staff spoke english which was very good as i was worried about communication.Incoming calls no problem to your room, my husband called throughout my stay.There is a lot of security around the hotel but this is because it is a maximum security area.I found this very reasuring & my daughter watched the Presidential helicopters landing from our bedroom window. Excellent pastry shop just outside side entrance but still part of hotel, so cheap & mutton rolls delicious!! Two swimming pools, small one for kids with play area next to it. Pool staff very nice & helpful.Hotel taxi staff very good & safer to use than local taxis. Was a great hotel to stay & would recommend to all who want to stay in Colombo & as a base for visiting attractions.

The Galadari is starting to show its age. I had a difficult time getting my room assigned. It took four visits to rooms to find one that did not have someone else already staying in it or not made up or other problems. The staff seemed bored by their jobs. The breakfast was pretty lackluster. The hotel car service was very overpriced -- double the price of local taxi service. The proximity to secretariat building and army base causes traffic and access disruptions when officials are on the move. I will stay elsewhere on my next visit.

We stayed one night in this hotel. It was very bad, I sorry for that but that is the fact. The room and bathroom are cleanless and the furniture are very old. There are a tag on the room door for Makkah direction for Muslim prayers but when I checked the direction I found that is wrong direction!!!; I dont know why dont making sure for this issue this is critical issue for Muslims. The resturent was limited foods and not carefully services. The swiming pool is small and not clean. You can not take a picture from your room or the area around the hotel because security causes. Happy to stay in Sri Lanka but not in this hotel. Eng. A.Moghamis Riyadh

We just came back form Colombo, where we staid one night in Galadary hotel. Only breakfast restaurant and lobby could be saved. The rest needs very urgent renovation and for sure is not a 5* hotel!!! Room was humid and stinky! Stuff and the reception was not efficiant and we had a lot of difficulties to get a taxi to the airport. And the night before we where cheated by the tuc-tuc driver booked by the portier at the hotel. For sure we will never come back to this hotel and I suggest other travelers to be very carefull booking this hotel. Lina
