Guest name: s0kutatsu, Kuala Lumpur
Location:-
It was a great location right on Jl Legian (main street in Kuta). Packed with bars, nightclubs, restaurants, clothes shop, handicrafts galore, salons and local mini markets.
Hotel Atmosphere & Rooms:-
Clean and comfortable
Services & Staff:-
Okay
Beach:-
This is not beach front hotel! But easily walking distance to the beach ;-)
I would recommend this hotel for "young people" and "the young at heart" on a party holiday in Bali.

G,day from Perth,I stayed at the Mahtaharri Bungalows,March 2008,when I arrived was at 2am as Garuda was like 5 hours late which sucked, any way on with it I was here for 16 days,on my arrival to my room though only standard I didnt mind as I was in Bali to have fun and not shop around.
My first room had no hot water so of I went to the reception and they were happy to change my room even carried my luggage for me,the next room was even better because this room had a single bed and it was king size as well and of course hot water I know it is hot in Bali and it was very humid in March but I still enjoy a hot shower or bath, the room was very clean,my mate who was there at the time was up market than me he had a deluxe room it also was nice, for my room it was spacaious plenty of room shower and bath were good, aircon worked nicely,I must remember to close my door at night though because the mossies like to pay visits to me,but accross the road from the hotel was a mini mart which had some spray so each night I sprayed so I had no problems there after with mossies, and the hotel sprayed the ground at least once a week that I seen for the mossies which was good,I read some one complain about the flys on the fruit were they on drugs as I never even brushed a fly of in all the times I have been to Bali. The staff were great as well all ways had a smile and chat with them, just had to get the right one for a dvd player and barter with him to get a good price, then realising I was better of going to the shopping centre and buying one for 300,000 rph der me lolbut you live and learn.I was also the for nypie day where every thing shut down now that was a experince no one on the streets not even a scooter though you cant leave your hotel at this time, good excuse to drink your duty free alcohol.Any way it is a budget hotel and I recomend to anyone who like to go cheap to Bali, like me Iam going back in August the 20th for 3 weeks this time, also have to say the breakfasts was good, and I all ways seen the staff clean down the tables when someone had finished the breakfast, see ya all soon in Bali, regards Mark Gibson from Perth.

I had previously stayed at the hotel in April 2007 with my mother and loved the location.
I took my husband and two teenage daughters back in Jan 2008 and have already re-booked for Aug 2008 for my husband and I.
Don't forget it is a BUDGET HOTEL!
I would agree that the rooms could do with some updating, however there were comfortable beds, hot running water, fridge, TV and air conditioning..........what else do you need??
The staff are always pleasant and helpful and happy to sit and chat. We have made some wonderful friendships with several of the long standing staff.
Breakfast is fine, if you want bacon and eggs you must pay, which works out to about $2AU
The pool and gardens are fantastic, especially with the swim up bar, what a way to spend and afternoon.
We thought about staying at a more up market hotel for our return trip in August and then decided that we were more than happy with the hotel so why pay more for pretty well much of the same.
Matahari Bungalow's is and will be out hotel of choice.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days and believe me, this hotel was not pleasant at all.
Our room was at the edge of the third floor. The room was very-very basic, thin wall, bad bathroom and hard bed. eventhough we pay for a budget, but we didn't aspect the worst kind of room like this hotel.
Just imagine, the airconditioner was in front of the bathroom and not facing the bed, and although we swith on the aircon 24 hours our room wasn't cold at all!
For the environment, it's quite okay with a good view of swimming pool. The breakfast was simple but the fried rice served was quite yummy.
Overall, if you can find other budget hotel, just forget about Matahari Bungalow.
