Save some money and stay at Maitai, the overwater bungalows
are half the price of most others on the island. They are beautiful,
and the snorkeling underneath was the best we did on the island. We stayed in room five, and there was an octupus that
lived underneath the bungalow, plus all the colorful tropical
fish you could imagine. food at there beach side restraunt
was pretty good, food at the hotel side restraunt was horrible.
we ate most nights at a restraunt in walking distance called
"La Bounty" very good. We stayed in there ocean view room,
it was o.k. but didn't compare to overwater bungalow, spend
a little extra and do this atleast for a few nights.

My husband and I stayed at the Maitai for our anniverary. About three-four days later my pocket book and our camera was stolen from our beach bungalow while we were in the water around 4pm. Someone came through the front door (not forced). We strongly believe it to be a worker at the hotel. My pocket book was later found under our bungalow the next morning while we were escorted to the police station. How funny is that. Everything was in it except my money. Our camera was never recovered. We were compensated for the lost but we lost all the memories that we captured. So please be on guard. I guess crime is everywhere even in little Bora Bora.

We were just married and spent our honeymoon in French Polynesia. At Maitai Polynesia Hotel - in Bora Bora we found a place not so sophisticated, but the enough for our needs. Besides we could find many activities, like boot trip around the island which was terrific. The equipments for snorkel diving are borrowed for free. The rates, was one of the lower on the island. We don't have doubt; we definitely stayed again at this hotel!!
