The hotel is located in a small village of Soave in the Veneto region, just outside the old city walls. It has it's own parking which is free of charge and very handy if you are arriving by car.
There is enough choice of bars and restaurants in the village and the prices are all reasonable.
Rooms are large, modern and well fitted, with a large bathroom. The hotel is also quite reasonably priced, considering the 4-star rating and the relative proximity to Verona.
We used it as our base for exploring the region for 3 days and found our stay very comfortable and enjoyable.
The breakfast is a bit lacking in choice, something that I would expect of a much lower rated hotel. I have even been to hostels that offered better breakfasts, but it's not the most important thing.
Compared to the hotels I have seen in Verona and those on the outskirts, I feel really lucky that we ended up picking this one. If you have a car and are looking for a good base, then this is the right place for you!

Nice Town

This was a nice hotel, but unsure if it wanted to suit business travellers or tourists. We stayed one night and spent a day in Verona which was too touristy but still quite nice (if pricey). We got a suite which was very nicely furnished and the breakfast was good too, but the highlight is the town of Soave itself. A tiny medieval village which has family run trattorias where you can dine on fine food for a pittance. The castle and scenery are stunning, so make sure you get back from Verona in time to enjoy dinner and a walk around the town! I’d happily stay here again, maybe even using it as a base to visit Verona and Lake Garda.
Great modern hotel, fantastic price

Hotel Roxy Plaza is a great modern hotel just across the street from the castle walls of Soave. We checked in after a horrendous drive from Padua (we were pulled over by the polizia and had to pay a 70 euro fine on the spot) but our big airy room made us feel more relaxed. We had a view of the playground and as we watched the ducks swimming by, we realized the 'river' was the moat! We walked around the town and grabbed a drink at a charming enoteca up the road (fantastic soave classico!) and then had dinner at the restaurant next door. The breakfast offered the usual rolls, pastries, cereal, fruit and also hard boiled eggs. We would have liked to stay longer and visit the wineries in the area but unfortunately, we ran out of time.

A Pleasant Hotel

My partner, my mother, and I just stayed at the Hotel Roxy Plaza (---) the night of September 18, 2005. Through good fortune, this happened to be the last day of their regional wine festival. There would have been fireworks to see if only it hadn’t been raining. Instead, we got to hear the locals enjoying themselves late into the evening (nothing that a good set of ear plugs couldn’t fix).
The hotel is located just outside the medieval wall that surrounds the old section of the very charming town of Soave, in the Verona region of Italy. It is of fairly new construction and has an elevator and underground parking garage. The staff was extremely friendly, and provided some good information on the local wine region and the “wine road”.
My partner and I found ourselves in a Junior Suite. It was located on the very top floor (after climbing a narrow, spiral staircase for the last floor) and offered an incredible view of the walled city. The suite was very large – with a separate bedroom with king-sized bed, central living/dining room with kitchenette and another day-bed and a full bath. This would be a great suite to request if you were staying in the area for several days to tour the local wine region. The only concern voiced by my mother was that her smaller room had a stale, smoky odor. This is not that unusual, as almost every hotel in Italy allows smoking in any room.
The room price included the breakfast buffet which had the usual selections of meats, cheese, and pastries found in Europe.
As a newer building, the hotel didn’t offer the “charm” of an agri-tourismo or smaller B&B, but I would still recommend it.
Definitely take the time to stop in at the local wine tasting room for Borgo Rocca Sveva (Cantina di Soave) which also offers a wide selection of local wines. Be aware that they cannot ship many of the wines back to the US and if you try to do it yourself it will be expensive - about $150 USD to ship 9 bottles back.
Take the time to drive to Vicenza (---) for the incredible Palladian architecture and to Padova (Padua) to see the Giotto frescos at the Cappella degli Scrovegni (---)
