nice place. you're in alameda, but a simple tube road away from oakland and the bay bridge. clean but not perfect. i got what i was expecting: a good, cheap room that was clean, had wi-fi, and in a safe neighborhood (next to the oakland yacht club in Alameda). I would stay here rather then a motel 6 or days inn anytime.

Fine if you are using the marina, but not a destination resort by any means.

I cannot see why anyone would select this as a destination unless they have business in one of the nearby marinas. The "waterfront" views of the marina, the estuary and downtown Oakland from the second floor are actually pretty nice (if you ignore the container port and it's cranes and run down buildings), but beyond that, it's basically a Motel Six or Comfort Inn, and an old one at that.
There is no excuse nowadays for a bed that is as comfortable as a piece of plywood, and their "continental breakfast" is a small assortment of junk that you could get at the local gas mart. Actually, the gas mart would at least have some Hostess Twinkees or Cupcakes (yum). On the positive side, the employees were nice enough, and there were signs that someone has been repairing and renovating the shabbiest parts of the complex.
The pool was popular and looked clean, there is plenty of parking, and there are a couple of very nice little restaurants nearby (Angela's is excellent). If you are looking for a relaxing, romantic getaway...this ain't it. If you love out-of-the-way semi-dumps with some sort of character benefit, maybe this will work for you-if you can find it without getting lost (we had GPS). There are too many other places in the Bay Area to consider to justify selecting this place.

Good Hotel but Older

Summary - Good room, housekeeping, breakfast, wi fi, and bathroom supplies, but older hotel with peeling paint on walls and stains on carpet.
PROs:
1. Clean room with housekeeping. The room was made/cleaned and towels & shampoo, etc. replaced.
2. Small outdoor pool.
3. Continental Breakfast.
4. $99 per night & refrig / microwave/ iron/hairdryer in room.
CONs:
1. Older hotel with peeling paint and some maintenance issues like water leaking into room.
2. No fitness center on site, but a gym about a mile away with classes, batting cage, indoor pool, cardio equip (no TVs) and LOTs of weight equipment. Also a just for women workout room.
3. No restaurant on site and no convenience store.
4. Older funiture, TV, linens & blankets.
The hotel staff was adequate and the hotel is older. This hotel attempts to offer the traveler some conveniences that do not cost very much hence the continental breakfast, in room conveniences, etc. But more expensive upgrades such as remodeling have not been undertaken though the hotel does need a facelift. I also did not see any elevators though I was not looking for one.

Air Conditioner didn't work and wasted 2 hours trying to get the staff to explain where they were located after they said they were at "Jack London Square" ...the place ended up a $20 taxi ride away!! Checked out after 20 minutes without Air Conditioning. They refuse to refund $$. Poor excuses and poor service. You would think they could give directions from Oaklands most famous landmark and have the A/C working...window units no less.

Black bugs have got to go!

Rooms are okay, a little out dated though. My husband told them of the little black flying bugs in our room. He was told that they have this problem every summer (this is April). He advised them that he didn't want to see them when he got back. Room was clean and no major sign of black bugs when we returned. However, last night there was a ton of them-mostly in the bathroom. This morning-there is litteraly hundreds! It would be worth it for them to call the exterminator. We would stay here again if they get rid of the bugs....otherwise this will not be a hotel on our list for Alameda, Ca. We happen to be business travelers and are here at least every two weeks.
I would think this would be a problem they would solve!
