Surly, unhelpful front desk staff. No air conditioning in the lobby, public areas etc. We booked 5 bedrooms , only one had air conditioning that cooled the room enough to sleep.
Buffet breakfast was ok, the waiter we had was extremely helpful.
There are other large hotels in this area so I would not bother trying this one. The temperatures hovered in the mid 40's so it was pretty hot but air conditioning would have made it tolerable.
Having to get a taxi into town each time was a nuisance so I would recommend staying in town.
A disappointment for all of us.

I know this is going to be a lengthy review, but please be patient and if you don't read any other reviews PLEASE READ THIS ONE!!
My fiance and I stayed at this hotel May 1, 2008. At first it looked very nice. There was a gate arm with a guard at the entrance which made us think that this would be a really good hotel, but when the guard has to take any type of break, no one covers for him; therefore, you have to wait for someone to open the gate arm to go in or out. The parking was easy getting in, but difficult getting out. The lobby is very pretty, but quite deceiving when it comes to the rooms. We asked for a room with a king sized bed and was told that was not a problem. We were taken to a room that had two double beds and had not been cleaned (it was 3:30pm). It had a really bad view from the balcony, if you can call it a view. We were asked to wait at the pool while the room was cleaned. We were tired a really just wanted to rest, so we went back to the lobby and asked for another room WITH a king size bed and a better view. We were taken to a room that had two double beds and the view was worse than the first room (it was clean though). It was very warm in the room and the air conditioner never did cool the room even turned down as low as it would go. We were very thirsty, but everything in the mini bar was warm. My finance phoned and asked for some ice but no one knew what ice was, but they did say that they would bring some cold beverages to our room. After about one hour, when no one showed up, (beverages still warm) I went to sit by the pool to cool off. The restaurant has tables by the pool. I sat at one near the pool, but no one ever came to ask if I wanted anything. Another hour passed by and I went back to the room....no cold beverages. I went back to the lobby and had to show my you-know-what to get them to bring ice and cold drinks to our room which they did within five minutes. The beverages were swapped for cold ones and a bucket of ice was brought to our room. About ten minutes later, there was a knock on the door. It was deduced that the refrigerator was not working....duh!!!!......so it was changed. out. We left the hotel the next day after a very fitful sleep because of the air conditioner not working well. I told the man in the lobby that, because of all the problems incurred, and at a cost that was not even worth GOOD service, that I felt the hotel owed us something; therefore, we were not going to pay for anything in the mini bar. The man kept saying we had to. After a bit of vocal defense, my fiance and I walked out of the hotel without paying for the beverages or food in the mini bar. It was the least they could do, though it was not agreed upon by the hotel staff.
So.....did we like anything about this hotel????? The pool was quite beautiful and there was an electrical outlet on the front of the table between the beds.
Do we recommend this hotel????????? NO NO NO NO
Will we ever stay there again? NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

I booked this hotel on the strength of its claims to be 5 star standard. Foolishly, I expected a degree of opulence, I was sorely disappointed.
In appearance, the hotel has a low quality of finish (nylon carpets for example), it was poorly decorated a number of years ago and has become grubby and chipped since.
Concerns raised by other reviewers are all true, the vents in the bathrooms bring a wiff of the sewers to the bedrooms, the staff are surly and seem to have no interest in British guests, the rooms were not properly cleaned. Our room was above the kitchen which was very noisy throughout the night.
There were a variety of outdoor facilities but think British holiday camp rather than La Manga, with line dancing and aqua aerobics being some of the activities taking place, but unless you are all inclusive you will be charged extra for pretty much everything. They do have a good pool if you can bear the pounding non stop techno coming from the poolside soundsystem and the pool staff bellowing at each other across the pool.
Sadly, the rude duty manager my girlfriend spoke to genuinely believed that this was a 5 star hotel which says to me he has no idea what a real 5 star hotel looks like. I don't know who has awarded this hotel 5 stars but I suspect it was Hotel Kenzi Semiramis themselves, it certainly wasn't michelin or the AA . My girlfriend thinks its akin to what we brits would consider 3 star, I personally think even that is a stretch.
