We won't be Russian back in a hurry!

I have just returned from a one week stay at this hotel, and it won't be somewhere I'm rushing back to! Whilst the country, local people and weather are fantastic, when you book through a tour agent who uses the tagline "Exclusive to UK Group Customers" you expect there to be more than 20 or so british residents! The hotel guests were made up of around 70% Russians, 25% italians, 2% british and 3% other. The Russian guests can only be described as rude and offensive, I'm not by any means fully conversed in the Russian language, but I know damn well that there were no pleases or thank yous attached to their demands!
The food in the hotel was basic to say the very least, if I ever see pasta, bread, or mince meat again it will be too soon. The choice was extremely limited also and what there is isn't all that good. Unfortunately, its back to the Russians again, they pile the food high and get plates of it and leave most of the remains strewn across the table and they think nothing of an elbow in the ribs if you're taking a second longer at the buffet than they expect! The brochure states that there are other restaurants available and that only lobster and shrimp will have extra charges, this is a lie. These restaurants are not included in the price, but you are not told this until your welcome meeting the following day!
I cannot fault the staff in the hotel, the bar and restaurant staff along with the pool staff are excellent. The sales guys who harass you around the pool trying to sell you massages, hair braids and tattoos can get way too much, as can the men in speedos, thank god british men tend to wear shorts!

Have stayed at the Tropicana Grand Oasis three times in the last three years, all during the months of May or June. Overall, this is an excellent hotel in which to stay whilst in Sharm.
The hotel itself is large, spacious and very clean. Cleaning staff work throughout the day and night to keep it in an exceedingly tidy and well maintained state. Rooms are large with two double beds in each room which (if you're travelling as a couple) you can push together and make a supersize four person bed! Rooms are cleaned daily, all have balcony areas, fridge, PIN code safe, TV with 30+ channels (mostly European, BBC World and Egyptian). I have never had any complaints about the rooms at all. There are also villas on site for larger groups or if you just want th have extra space.
As per other reviews, there are a lot of Italians and Russians/Eastern Europeans but I have also found a lot of Brits too. The Italians "rule the hotel" and indeed play loud Euro dance music around the pool during the daytime. Their evening shows are worth a miss. To compensate, the hotel has a number of good bars to spend time in. If you book all inclusive, you can basically drink alcohol day and night for free....a good selection of cocktails on offer. Food is an experience - always of a good quality and standard but can be repetative. There is a main restaurant (self service) and Italian, seafood and oriental restaurants. It can be a bit of a fight but getting into the restaurants bang on when serving starts at 1pm and 7pm (and 7am for breakfast - although this is less arduous) seems to be the key.
You get given a wrist band to wear when you check in, the colour of which shows whether you are all inclusive/B&B etc etc. Once the band goes onto your wrist, it doesnt come off (I have tried to get it off and haven't found a way yet until they cut it off when you leave) - so be warned if you put it on too tight.
For nights/days out, the hotel offers a free shuttle bus each day and evening to and from Naama Bay. This is heavily booked up due to a limited number of seats on the minibus. The key to this is to book your seats on the day before at 10am and be the first to get your names on the list before a group of 10 turn up and book up the whole bus! Egyptian drivers are a lot lot worse than in the UK...have something or someone to hold onto! The bus drops you off at Tropicana Rosetta - about 10 mins walk from all of the shops/bars/restaurants of Naama bay Hotel. Just turn right out of the hotel on leaving the bus and follow the road. The bus can bring you back at set times until just after midnight otherwise use a taxi which costs about ?1-?2. You will always find a taxi wherever you are, whatever the time.
The location of the resort is in a quiet setting away from the busyness of the main areas of Sharm. It is about a 10 minute ride from the airport. There is no aircraft noise heard within the resort. The beach is very good, split into levels and you can always get a lounger though not always with shade if you turn up later in the day.
The pool staff are excellent and if you get chatting to them will reserve you your "spot" each day. It is good to tip them after your stay as the chaps get paid very little compared to the UK and a little goes a long way for them. Ibrahim and Asharaf are very very good. You do get hassled by some of the staff for massages/hairstyles/skin treatments etc etc. The trick is to pretend to be asleep or say you have no money left then they leave you alone for the rest of the week. The latter is a definite way to be left alone.
EVERYONE is very welcoming and will always assist with any problems/
difficulties.
All in all, this is a very good resort having stayed the last 3 years having booked with Thomson all inclusive. You definately get your moneys worth if you drink the alcohol! The Italian restaurant by the pool is well worth a try and a reservation is required here on the day before. If you like peace and quiet in the day, head to the beach. If you dont mind the music, head to the pool.

Just returned from Sham and had a fantastic holiday. Was a little worried before going after reading some dodgy reviews about this hotel. But there was no reason to! This is a really lovely hotel - the photos do not do it justice - its beautiful. Also the staff are so friendly, they really make you welcome!
The pool area is huge and very nice, the hotel is set on the beach which again was very nice. Its a tiered beach and a jetty into the sea, there is also coral so you can snorkel - amazing fish down there!!
The food is of a good standard, and was one on the main reasons we were worrying before going - but was nothing like what the reviews suggested it was! There was a huge choice of food and you'd never go hungry! There are 4 other reastaurants other than the main one, all of which were very nice.
The only down side of this hotel is the entertainment on an evening, it is bascially just for the Italians! It was complete rubbish! But it's not far into Naama Bay - 15 min taxi ride away, which is heaving on an evening!
The hotel is full of Russians and Italians but didn't find them that rude although they dont talk to you! There were quite a few English there as well so wasn't too bad. But when you talk to the locals they the resort is full of them too! Not just this hotel!
I would recommend this hotel, we had a fantastic time and will definately be going back!
