We have just returned from Vietnam staying at Palm Garden resort in Hoi An for two days. The resort overall is beautiful and enjoyable. We really had a great time. We booked a beach front bungalow for $203 per night for our family of 4. The pool is great and the beach is just one of the most beautiful beach I have ever experienced in Vietnam. We loved the hammock ties between the palm trees right on the sand, the lawn on the back of the bungalow are well taken care of and the beautiful garden leading from the front hotel to the room is just worth a walk. The breakfast was included in the room price and there are lot of choices. However, there are a few negatives that I need to bring it up so our TA members are aware of. First, customer service is not to our expectation, we left the back door open while we went on the beach but the wind blowed that shut the door locked, we could not go into the room. I had to make 4 requests and waited for more than an hour so the door can be opened. Second, there were so many Vietnamese at the breakfast while we were there, I believed they went there as a company function and the well organized breakfast became a mess, they don't mind cutting right in front of us to get food and they messed up the food without picking it to their plate. We ate in their restaurant one night, the food was great and we were the only customer so the waitress paid more attention to our request. Overall, we had a great time with the resort, and I believe if the customer service can be improved, this will be one of the great place in Hoi An to enjoy while on vacaction.

This was our second trip to Vietnam and on both occassions we have stayed at the Palm Garden Beach Resort and enjoyed the time very much.
The latest stay was for 8 days over which time we swam at the beach and pool, sunbaked, ate freshly caught seafood, the odd drink and shopped for clothes and shoes in Hoi An.
The resort itself is situated right on Cua Dai beach approx 7kms from Hoi An Town. This does not present any problem as taxis are very cheap, anyway the resort runs a bus shuttle service to and from town 4 times a day. More than adequate for our needs.
The resort beach is maintained very well, kept extremely clean and has many deck chairs and shade. A bar/ snack service is available. The sea water was very clean and clear blue whilst we we there (28.5degrees in the water). The resort has a water sports centre and beach towels are supplied to your chair.
The resorts gardens are situated over a number of acres, very well maintained and a delight to walk around.
The resort has a very large swimming pool which again is well maintained with plenty of chairs and shade available. The water temperature was 31degrees whilst we we there, clean and clear. A spa pool is near the middle of the pool and well utilised.
We stayed in a garden view room which we found to be most adequate. A spacious room with large bed, plenty of room to move around, adequate storage and nice shower/toilet area. All rooms have either a patio or balcony which is a most desirable place to have a pre dinner drink. Rooms are well maintained and cleaned daily with fresh towels or what you require at night.
Breakfast is included with most tariffs and meets all requirements with a great variety of breakfast dishes. Very nice.
The resort has two restaurants and we have only utilsed the outside one which serves Western or Italian dishes. We found this to be reasonably priced with a good variety of dishes for a family to choose from. A nice bar is available.
The town of Hoi An is a quaint old town with plenty of first class tailor/clothes and shoe shops available. It is quite an experience to have your clothes or shoes designed ,made and fitted for you in 24hours. Very reasonably priced with leather speciality.
Leave plenty of room in your case!!!
I forget to mention but the seaside restaurants on Cua Dai beach are a real treat for seafood lovers. Fresh crays, large prawns.calamari and fish etc BBQ while you wait. They may look old but cook a great meal.
We note a couple of adverse criticisms from other Trip advisors however we are at an absolute loss as to these experiences having never found any faults with this resort. The staff are courteous and very willing to meet all our needs.

We stayed 4 nights at Palm Garden Resort in April 2008 and we absolutely loved it. We tossed over whether to stay in busy Hoi An or at the beach and in the end we were so pleased with our choice. Each day we caught the afternoon free resort shuttle bus into the old town for shopping, markets, visits to tailors, etc. We then stayed on for dinner after dusk and caught a taxi back to the resort (about $3). We found the best time in the old town was late afternoon as it was cooler, more scenic, not as busy, no motor bikes, pretty lanterns, etc. We really enjoyed our escape back to the quiet beach resort each night. We spent the mornings swimming at the beautiful clean sandy beach, lazing around under the coconut palms or by the huge pool. Riding a resort bicycle early morning through the fishing village a couple kilometres south is highly recommended to see some normal life. The resort staff were fantastic, helpful and welcoming. They handled all our requests with no fuss, booking trains, our next hotel and half day trip to My Son. The private resort car and lovely caring, friendly driver were just great for a trip to My Son and the train station at Danang. We ate at the resort restaurant one night and the service was excellent and food good, but it was fun eating in the old town at the Mango Room and Cargo Club (excellent). Our beach view room was right near the beach and was comfortable, clean and well presented, and the air conditioning was welcome relief from the heat. The resort breakfasts were abolutely delicious with lots of choice . However, it was a real pity they allow smokers on the outside balconies and outside restaurants which can be very irritating for others wishing to eat outside (we experienced this problem at other places in Vietnam and chose to put up with it rather than make it an issue). Palm Garden Resort and Hoi An were real highlights of our trip to Vietnam and as we saw later equal to some other very expensive resorts at Nha Trang (much over-rated). Our tips for an excellent tailor are Be Be near the bus station and Red Bridge Cooking School (both recommended by the resort staff).

We cannot speak highly enough about this resort. The gardens were beautiful, the staff were charming and the pool and beachfront were spotless. I cannot understand how you could criticize this resort. The furniture in room a little outdated, there were only herbal tea bags supplied, but this is only a small deal.
For the price we paid, $110 AUS per night excluding taxes this was very reasonable.
