Good location, Only 10 mins walk to the centre. The staff was very friendly, the room was quite spacious and very clean.
Food at the hotel was also very nice. Would recommend.

Good things:
You get a good room, not big, but ok. Shower might miss a curtain, but it was very clean. Bed also was not the wooden matrass I feared, but really nice and comfy.
Breakfast is a choice of three menus, cornflakes, bread, or omelette. No frills, but enough.
Downside: At night, the street hookers and junkies operate right outdoors, the gypsies camp opposite in the dried-out canal, and the tram sometimes makes inexplicable noises reminding of gunshots (which they arent).

Nothing to complain!
Very near the center of Sofia. Rooms are good, only if you're non smoker be sure to ask for non -smoking room, because the odor is strong in smoking rooms.
Staff is very helpful, always there to give you a good advice, especially when you try to recognize false from official taxi-cab.
If you don't need some special setting this is a great place for staying for not too much money and you're on walking distance from everything.
Just, don't be surprised when on the end you get check on Cyrillic letter with prices in levas, hoping that for example your employer will know how to read it.
Anyway, my best recommendations!

The Maria Luisa Boulevard has obviously seen better times. The busy south end with the grocery hall, the mosque etc. is still allright, but the north end looks a bit shabby in its atmosphere. And Lion is at the north end and a busy traffic crossing as well.
The offer a choice of rooms different is price and quality starting from Euro 39. My room was ok, had all you need for staying just one night. But the hosue was loud, even far after midnight.
I would look for other alternatives next time.

The hotel Lion is in a good location around Sofia. It has a nice resteraunt inside and the staff was friendly. The only problem we encountered was the lack of Air Conditioning, but the room was big, spacious and we left the door to the terrace open. The hotel is unique looking and easy to find, and a short walk from the Hali, Synagogue, and Bani Bashi Mosque. Then from there a short walk to the main square. We found walking easy in Sofia and the hotel was a great base.
