Not Bad, Not Great
Guest name: simpme, Ont., Canada
I was at the hotel recently for a conference and banquet. The rooms are nice but not too comfortable. It was hard to find a place near the table/desk that I could plug my laptop power supply in. Bathroom toiletries were minimal.
Lobby was OK, the jazz bar off the lobby was reasonable but the other dining area was in need of a retrofit. The place looks like it was converted from a bar into something that is now geared to eating.
Waterfront location is very nice. My room on the 5th floor had a waterfront view. The window opens so you are not forced to run the A/C all night if you don't want to.
If I had a choice, I'd likely pick a different place to stay in Kingston the next time.
Friendly - but just OK

My wife and 2 kids (14 and 10) stayed at the Confederation for 1 night as we traveled from Mont Tremblant to Niagara Falls. The check-in was easy - the front desk staff friendly and helpful. The room was quite average - dated wall paper, older looking furnishings, etc. - nothing aweful or special - for $129 a night, you barely get what you pay for. We chose this place as it is one of the only hotels in town that accepts pets (we were travelling with a small dog). It was a fine stop-over.
Would definetly recommend Frankie Pestos for great italian - just 1 block away from the hotel.

I can't wait to go back to Confederation Place! I've stayed here back in 2002 and just about every year after when it was the Howard Johnson's and still like it. The staff is very helpful and very nice. The hotel is close to all the great things in "Old Kingston", great shoping and lots of different rnationalities estaurants(a big plus for me). My room had a beautiful view of the lake and it was spotless! The cleaning staff were so nice!

Do yourself a favour and do not stay at this hotel. My room had wallpaper peeling off the walls, a bathtub which didn't drain properly, and a toilet water intake which refused to stop running. The decor and furniture were ratty, to put it nicely, and possibly dated back to Confederation itself. All this pleasure was mine for a mere C$200 (including tax) for a one-night stay. Stay away at all costs.
