My husband and I stayed at this property from July 7 through July 11 and we were extremely satisfied with our pet friendly lodging accomodations, the very low cost of our accomodations, and the large breakfast. We have never had a free breakfast at any motel that offered as much hot and cold food variety. The staff was friendly and took care of our every need. We will be back when we visit our relatives in the area.

at time of check in the lady told us that there is a 6.00 charge for our pet she said that the 6.00 would be refunded at time of checkout a staff member would check our room for any damages caused by our pet.when i went to checkout i was told that it was not refundable.also usually the breakfast area at the motel is clean and well stocked but when i was there the tables were all dirty and nothing was filled it was like a little scavenger hunt trying to find seating and food,i asked the man working if there was anything left and he seemed dissapointed theat he had to do some extra work.upon getting home i called the motel hoping to speak to the young lady who checked us in but ended up talking to "the breakfast man"who was very rude to me on the phone and would not hear my side of the story at all, when i asked to talk to a corporation in charge of the operation he stated that he was the general manager(there must not have been any other applicants at the time)but took my contact info for his boss who ended up calling my wife the next day while i was at work and made her feel like she was lying about what we were told at check-in.yeah all this over $6.00 a measley $6.00 but still money that we were told that we would be walking away with.what a dissapointment and to think we used to be loyal customers of this establishment

Here's my take on the New Victorian Inn:
The good: The breakfast was not fancy, but was extensive. Unless you're a food snob, most things you'd desire for breakfast are available. The room was clean and neat. The front desk staff was friendly and courteous. They patiently and professionally answered my queries regarding directions to area locales.
The not so good: My husband thought the pool was too cold. This is saying something, because he's a guy who's content to sleep on the ground with few amenities. Now for the room. For some reason, the hotel staff put us in a room that I believe used to be a conference room. We reserved early, so I don't think it was because they were sold out of everything else. At first, we thought the room was great because it was about the size of three hotel rooms for the price of one standard room. However, this room had several problems: There were no drapes on the windows, only blinds. The room faced east and the blinds did nothing to block out the early morning June rays. My kids thought it was time to get up an hour earlier than usual. There was no deadbolt or chain on the door. You had to lock the door manually when you left the room, or it would remain unlocked. There were no bedside lamps, only overhead flourescent lighting. We were adjacent to the breakfast room, so we could hear noises next door when breakfast serving began at 5:00AM. There were no screens on the windows and one of the windows did not open. You had to hold down the toilet handle during the duration of the flushing process, or nothing would go down.
Lest you think this is a really bad review, allow me to explain. Aside from the cold pool, I think this motel would be fine IF you got to stay in a regular room (not a converted conference room).
Allow me to provide some additional info. on Norfolk. The pickings for the middle class individual are slim. On the one hand, Norfolk has the Holiday Inn Express and the Hampton. In the last year, they have jacked up their prices from $75 a night to $99 a night. They deny knowledge of this, of course. These are ridiculous prices for a rural town of 20,000 people with few tourist attractions. The Norfolk Lodge and Suites is well over $100 a night. The two other nice motels: Villa Inn and White House Inn are closed. The remaining choices are budget motels without pools and seedy places you probably would rather not frequent. Soooo, considering the value for your money (we paid $57 a night) and the lack of other affordable, decent options, the New Victorian Inn is your best bet in Norfolk, NE.
