This hotel is full of character and charm, but is not for the person who is a hotel snob. The rates are reasonable and there are no frills and no pampering....just a good, clean place to sleep before going out for whatever you came to Boston to do. THE STAFF IS EXCEPTIONAL and will go the extra mile to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. It was refreshing to get away from the "cookie cutter" type of motel room for a change. This is an old hotel that has been cleaned up and modernized but still retains a feeling of that yesteryear feeling. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean and bright and was located on the inside area which made it exceptionally quiet (no street noise at all). There was no stale smell present in the room. The bath had been updated with a new quarry tile floor and a new pedistal style sink. The only mirror was in the bath room; however, it would have been nice to have a second mirror in the bedroom, as well. The refrigerator, microwave and TV all worked fine. Replacement windows with screens were new, also. It was great to have the new bi-fold blinds instead of those heavy lined drapes. THE ONLY COMPLAINT WE HAD WAS THE GOD-AWFUL COLORS USED IN PAINTING THE HALLWAYS AND ROOMS....the bedspreads were a little ugly, too. The owners need to get advice from an American decorator......and fast!!! Perhaps in future remodeling, this will be corrected. We decided that since the room was clean, the prices were so reasonable and since we were in the room such a short time, we could overlook the colors on the walls. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel and I fully intend to stay here when I visit Boston again.

room was dirty. the remote didn't work, the fridge was so iced over the door wouldn't close. when i called for assistance it took over 24 hours. the ad said it was close to everything the only thing it is near is fenway park. parking was very expensive , was told they had parking not told parking was paid. if you moved your car after paying for the entire stay, you might not have a space when you got back. so, you are forced to either use mass transit or a cab to go anywhere..

We were on a baseball weekend, and you couldn't get closer to Fenway park unless someone dropped you off in front. It was very close to the subway, and just a few stops from historical places. There were also great sports bars within walking distance.
The facility was roomy, clean, and full of character. We arrived about midnight, and the staff was both cheerful and helpful.

This hotel is exactly what they say they are. An affordable hotel with a great location in a city that has very few affordable hotels. My wife and I found the hotel to be clean and the staff to be very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for four star accomodations at a 2 star rate, the Buck will surely dissapoint. But if you are looking for a reasonable rate for Boston and a great location, you can't go wrong with the Buckminster Hotel. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone.

I know this sounds like a complete contradiction.....the hotel was very clean....but we had a roach in our bathroom. Go figure.
