We just returned form Morocco a few weeks ago, and we must say we were very dissapointed in the hotel. Our rooms A/C did not work, and we had a hard time trying to get someone to fix it.
We finally were moved (after 2 days!) to another room on a less sunny part of the hotel. We felt like we were in France, as the clientele were French, and the staff spoke French. Few people spoke English. We were surprised to see French women going topless, especially since we were in a Muslim country. The location is near the busy square in the medina. Which may be a plus for some. But, I would have definitely preferred a Riad....we stayed in many beautiful riads on our trip around Morocco, with genuine Moroccan hospitality and food. This definitely did not feel like old Morocco in any way, shape or form. We could have been in Europe. The birds pecking at the bread baskets at the buffet in the morning, were an interesting addition. We would recommend a beautiful restaurant near the hotel, but not related to it....."Nawama" gorgeous and very romantic.

The four restaurants were excellent with varied choice of menus - remember to make a reservation particularly for the Moroccan and Indian restaurants. The central courtyard is beautiful with fig and orange trees as well as many rooms to sit in for reading, playing board games and cards etc. One room has a fire which is lit every evening - perfect for the time of year.
We were fortunate to have above average temperatures for our stay, however we were unfortunate to have a 'Medina' room overlooking the street as it was stifling and too noisy to open a window. After two requests to have our air conditioning looked at we discovered the heating is on at this time of year (February) in the hotel. So be aware that you are not booking an air/con room at this time of year!
Excursions are available from the reception - but lack any kind of information regarding itinerary or overall cost. Our four hour 'City Tour' turned into a one hour trip to a carpet shop - accompanied by Ali Babar! If heading to the Atlas Mountains wear good walking boots and warm clothes as you will be faced with a treacherous climb to a disappointing cascade of water! The price of the guide is additional and should be negotiated before setting off.
The peaceful haven in this bustling city is the El Badi Palace - well worth a visit.

A wonderful, relaxing hotel. The staff were helpful, attentive but not intrusive. The spa is just delicious, don't wait too long to experience it, the pool alone is a secluded calming place, the Hamman is just funny! The rooftop restaurant is stunning with amazing views. The whole hotel is a wonderful escape from the hectic Medina, the brilliant location means no cabs and crazy driving, just wander out of the souks to the tranquility of the main pool. My only advice would be to try and get a patio facing room, the most noise you will get is the tweeting birds and cicadas and also possibly take a travel bath plug as they don't come as standard and shower curtains don't seem to exisit but hey, for the lovely rooms with rose petals there each time the room is made up, it is a small sacrifice..... we will definately return.
