Just come back and overall had a great stay. Location is great and it's nice to stay somewhere with a bit of character.Rooms were good size and staff were very nice particuarly liddie? who bought our children gifts!
Parents room had a flood and were moved immediately. However the room that they were put in Room 1 is right by the foyer so I would avoid this room. Also as we stayed from Monday to Thursday we did not notice too much noise even though there are 2 bars on the same road. I would go somewhere else for breakfast as @ 14 euros it's a bit of a rip off.
There is a very good restaurant 1 miniute away Le Comptoir. You must try their fixed 5 course menu.

We wanted to stay either in the Latin Quarter or the St. Germain district and we had to balance economy with a desire to splurge for our honeymoon. Hotel du Globe fit the bill perfectly!
The room was small, but charming, with rich tapestry furnishings, rustic beams, en suite bath (tiniest bathtub I've seen - ever!) and a canopy bed. It being our honeymoon we did spend more time in the room than one might normally on a trip to Paris, so we wanted to be comfortable. One of the best memories I can share publicly is eating olives, cheese and bread and drinking bidet-chilled champagne from the neighborhood store a few doors down, while laughing ourselves silly at a John Wayne western overdubbed in French.
This is a great neighborhood place near some cute boutiques and bakeries and easy walking distance to Luxembourg Gardens, St. George's fountain and Notre Dame. The Metro is also very accessible - 1 or 2 blocks to your choice of stations.
The staff was very helpful, spoke good English and we were glad to have access to the hotel computer for internet and email. They even let us explore the old cellar downstairs. Breakfast was included in our rate and consisted of a variety of fresh breads, yougurt, juice, coffee and fruit.
Other "pros" to this place are that it is quiet, very clean and staffed quite late into the night. The only real "con" I remember is that there are no elevators (we schlepped our luggage up four flights of SPIRAL stairs). Also, did I mention it is small? This is to be expected in Paris, but if we were of the larger variety of American tourists, we would have had considerable trouble manuevering around each other in the room and bathroom, to say nothing of the stairs.
If you are looking for a moderately priced hotel with fine appointments, great location, good service, en suite facilities and helpful, English-speakikng staff, I recommend Hotel du Globe.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel du Globe for 7 days in two different rooms during out visit to Paris. While the hotel has a great location, within walking from several major tourist destinations, we felt the accomodations weren't what was "advertised" on the hotel's webpage. The rooms looked romantic and spacious online, but were shabby and cramped in reality. The bathrooms were clean, but terribly awkward. Our tub was literally a half bath, as in half a normal tub, with a hand held showerhead and no showercurtain. Let's just say that bathing in it made me wish I'd taken yoga. Our second room had a shower so small you could barely turn around in it.
Unless you're an athelete, I would recommend a room on one of the lower floors. Our first room was on the fourth floor reached only by narrow winding staircase and extremely narrow hallways, not a happy hike after a long day of touring or if you're carrying luggage. I wouldn't expect any help either. The service was mediocre. Although one desk clerk was very polite and helpful, the rest were at best indifferent, sometimes rude.
Overall the Globe did not impress, but for a reasonably priced hotel in the center of Paris, it's passable, just don't expect much more.
