My wife and I stayed at the Artisan at about the midway point in a Southeast US Road trip. We had been staying in friends' guest rooms and pull out couches and we were looking forward to having our own space and not encroaching on anybody's house. This was the wrong place to attempt such an idea. The hotel is in disrepair. we tried to nap during the day, but someone was shampooing the carpet in the hallway for at least 5 hours. the smell of the cleaner mixed poorly with the funky scent that had greeted us when we checked in. The hotel is quite a ways from Beale St. It's not situated in the greatest of neighborhoods and we worried about the safety of our car in a poorly lit, non secure parking lot. All in all, our stop in Memphis was nice, but with a better hotel, it would have been great.

Stayed 05/16 05/17. booked for king size bed. Found 2 doubles. rebooked rooms. Left a bag in the 1st room. was given a key the next day, told the room was vacant still, given a key to get the bag only to barg in on someone sleeping. The attendant said his records showed no one there. Very odd! Saturday night a room obove us was playing loud music. We called 11:40 pm to complain. Was told they would send someone to have music turned down, 10 minutes later the music was even louder. Called again after 12:00. Brandy answered and promised to send someone up. 10 minutes later they turned the music up even louder. We finally got to sleep after 2:00 am when the party ended. We flew out the next morning with 3 hours of sleep, lay over in airports, and worn out and disgusted. I emailed the Artisan 2 days ago, asked to speak with the owner. No response. TheT.V did not work. It was not just inconsiderate but down right ignorant for people to play music that loud in a public accomadation. It was criminal for the Hotel to lie to us and allow this to happen! Stay at your own risk!

Don't Stay Here!!!

This hotel was absolutely terrible to say the least...The pictures that are online are probably of what the hotel looked like when they first opened. The only thing that looks relatively the same is the pool and the looby. The rooms were an insult to anyone paying there money to stay there. They look nothing like the photo on their site. Nasty sheets, holes in walls, nasty shower, toilet and sink. The worst towels ever!! The homeless people sitting in the lobby were a bit of a scare also. The restaraunt that they have photos of looks as if has been closed down for years. This was a complete scam and I hope that they are shut down for false advertising. They say that they hold $50 on your card in case of incidentals well they charged me charged my card $50 and I still have not been reinbursed. They also charge $6.50 for parking in the most unsafe parking deck ever. There is no gate or security provided as they say. The staff is another story they were very unprofessional.I could go on and on but even if you are just looking to lay your head somewhere for a few hours, there are far berrter Motel 6 places that are better than this dump.

A family member booked two adjoining rooms for a family event - upon arrival we were immediately disappointed. The restaurant and lounge were no longer open, we were advised to park in the parking garage and were told their was 24-hour security. Upon entry into the garage - it looked like something out of Sleepy Hollow - dark, dank and plain scary.
We opted to park on the top parking lot even though we were told not to. The lobby is extremely dark and outdated.
My issue was with the rooms - the door to the adjoining room was broken and in splinters, there were cockroaches on the walls, filthy carpet on the floor, dirty walls, hard beds, no remote for T.V. and NO COFFEE POT.
It's not that close to Downtown Memphis as it's advertised - it's a good 5 miles with nothing around it but Starbucks and a Walgreens. When we were leaving we discovered that the staff lets HOMELESS people sleep on the couches in the lobby - boy that really made me feel safe.
Don't stay here - it's not worth $5 much less $69 - it would be more comfortable and cleaner to sleep in your own car!
