Adequate hotel with modern decor but some awkwardness

Tres Cruces Petit Palace is about two blocks from the Gran Via Metro stop, a very good location for exploring Madrid. However, at times during the day, the streets around the hotel have an abandoned, shoddy, run-down atmosphere. Late at night, though, the area immediately outside the hotel can bustle with small groups of revelers, generating a bit of noise.
The hotel features an effective modern decor style throughout and a cheerful, helpful staff. Rooms are clean and feature the same modern decor as the lobby, etc. but require a bit of adjustment from the typical American visitor. For example, Room 401 seemed to be missing a shower door while we were there. The room also had a guest safe which apparently required a credit card swipe to activate! The lobby had computers providing free Internet access.

Small, clean rooms, very good internet connection, good location in downtown Madrid close to Puerta del Sol, Gran Via, Plaza Mayor and others. There is no parking!!!! if you have rented a car it is difficult to arrive, the streets are very narrow and the traffic terrible!!. Parking service is provided by another company, very expensive!! 20 euros per day!!!!. the front desk staff is nice, at first they are not so welcoming but then they are helpful.

RECOMMEND (with reservations). Hotel is part of the High Tech hotel group which has a number of area hotels. The hotel attempts to be chic n' cool at a moderate price. This property is just feet away from the main metro stop, Gran Via. Off on a side street, rooms facing the street may get quite a bit of noise (not from cars, but from clubs and late night people drinking on the streets). Check-in and service throught was indifferent. Not unfriendly, just not welcoming (a clerk at another hotel told me that this chain has a poor reputation for how they treat employees - if true, it shows). We had a room looking at the inner courtyard (so very quiet). Hallways, as noted, are quite dark. Gray seems to be the color theme. Wooden stairs and landing may creak, so if you're room is close, you may hear it all night long. Our room (212) was very small, but typical for Madrid, and alone along the hallway, so we heard none of the other rooms or stairs. Bedding was adequate, though the bed itself though stylish, was cheaply made. Free internet access though. Bathrooms were a highlight. Modern, bright and the shower nozzles were one of the best I've ever seen. Bathrooms good size. The location is quite convenient to Cheuca and Gran Via. Would I return again? Maybe, but I'd likely scout out some other area properties first.

Excellent location - right next to the "Gran Via" metro station and walking distance from "Plaza Mayor". Good base to explore the city. Internet in the room worked fine. I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

This is the moder hotel in the heart of the Madrid, just off Gran Via, close to everything. The location is superb, as it's almost Gran Via, but with less noise. The best feature of the hotel is shower: that's heavenly! But rooms are very small and painted in dark gray color, including the celling, so if you are planning to spent some time in the room (not just oversleep the night) you are in deep danger of depression, as after couple days there your mood would be rather suicidal ( I've never been in more depressing room in my life, maybe there decorator was on the verge of taking his life while working on this hotel - it's something! like the chamber for nightmares...)
But other than that: it was clean, service was okay, hotel is very conveniently located, so it depends on your nerves: weather you could stand there decorating ideas.
