Really had a great time, its located right on the river and with the weather been so beautiful we spent most of the week sitting on there riverside terrace. The rooms are really bright, spacious and very clean. We had lunch in the bar on both days and it was great, dinner in the restaurant was fantasic with a great band playing after dinner.
The staff were a mix of Irish and non nationals and all were extremely charming and attentive. I've booked my parents to go back there next month as the town is really historic and both of them are history buffs.
Above all it was the clean design and well trained charming staff that set the hotel apart. Will definatley be back. The shopping centre next store is also very good with a great HMV and Waterstones.

Great location, asked for and received a room with a view of the river. Good breakfast, spacious, clean and modern. Room had very nice linen, good TV, fast elevators, great beds, quality linen, sperate tub and shower. The Big problem is NO AIR CONDITIONING>
If they fixed this problem it was be a fantastic deal.

My husband and I booked 2 nights in the D Hotel for a little break away. Immediately upon arrival, we were impressed with the design of the hotel but felt it cold and lacking some character. However, it is a very modern and minimalist. Personally, I just like something warmer.
Rooms were great and extremely comfortable that had lovely soft adjustable lighting, with excellent bathrooms. Couldn't fault them.
The hotel staff were really lovely and attentive. The food was fantastic and I felt the restaurant was reasonably priced for the food. 6 course meal without wine came to Eur92 for the 2 of us and we were competely stuffed and everything was divine. Found the winelist a bit expensive though so opted for some drinks in the bar afterwards.
Our only complaint was the lack of information regarding hotel protocol and information. When we got to our room, I looked for information on the hotel regarding times for breakfast, parking etc but there was nothing. We had no idea what time breakfast was served until but went down around 9:30 to be safe.
We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night. When we went down to breakfast on the Saturday morning, we had a choice from a menu on our tables and were waited on by the helpful staff. There was a small buffet for cereals but all hot food was from the lovely breakfast menu served only by the waiting staff. However, on the Sunday morning, we sat down expecting the same. After sitting there for a few mins, we asked a staff member for a menu and we were informed that it was a fully hot and cold buffet breakfast. I was hoping to get the Bagel with smoked salmon and poached egg again as I did the previous morning but this wasn't available on the hot buffet breakfast on the Sunday morning. It was all very confusing and we both felt very stupid sitting there to be waited on. But we just didn't know it was different for Sunday's.
There was no information about car parking either. We parked in the limited spaces available in the Hotel carpark across the road from the hotel entrance but had to ask at the desk what the procedure was to get out of it.
None of those minor issues would have been there had the information been in the room in the first place. I mentioned this to the staff at reception and they were quite apologetic about it.
Otherwise - excellent hotel. Brilliant location, everything on your doorstep as you're in the heart of the everything and only 10 mins from the beach and 10 mins from Newgrange visitor centre and shopping right next door. Really enjoyed our weekend. Would definitely recommend it.

Just back from a 2 night stay in this hotel boked through Stena Line. Lovely modern hotel in very convenient location close to town centre. The staff were helpful & the rooms spacious and clean. The only drawback was that there was NO AIR CONDITIONING and our room was so hot it was difficult to sleep even with the window open & the fan ( provided by the hotel because there is no air conditioning) on high.
I mentioned this at reception and they acknowledged that this is something that they have had many complaints about.
On the whole though this is a good hotel in a convenient town centre location.

Travelodge meets Ikea

What a disappointment! This contemporary hotel has missed the mark completely – it felt very much like ‘Travelodge meets Ikea’
A minimalist theme such as at this hotel can only work well if done so with quality pieces of art, furniture and expert finishes combined with ultra cleanliness – ‘The D’ has failed on all counts – it is ‘shabby’ without the ‘chic’
Because their website couldn’t deal with a booking for more than 4 people the booking process was arduous and involved several emails and telephone conversations. I enquired about organizing a birthday cake for one of our party which they failed to action.
Upon entering one of the rooms allocated to us we found it had yet to be cleaned after the previous occupants!
The rooms were extremely hot and stuffy – they had tried to combat this by putting portable electric fans in each of the rooms but with little success.
The ‘mini bar’ contained only the 4 bottles of complimentary water – no alcohol etc!
The bathroom was dingy with ‘cardboard’ towels and cheap toiletries. The TV booms into the bathroom via built in speakers and we couldn’t find a way of switching this off or adjusting the volume – in fact there was very little information in the room about anything.
Breakfast was buffet style and very disappointing – whoever heard of a ‘Full Irish’ without fried eggs!
The one good thing about this hotel is it’s location, with this in mind I enquired at reception about the time the shops in the adjacent shopping centre closed – I was told 9.30pm – it was actually 7pm!
I could keep ranting about this bleak and scruffy hotel – and that’s after staying only one night!!!
