Just returned from staying in the Hotel Duo with a group of friends, ages ranging from 17 to 63.
The outside of the hotel is so brightly coloured it looks tatty and ridiculous, and is surrounded by council looking blocks of flats, lots of them.
The hotel does offer all that is states in its description, the room was comfortable, but the air con didn’t work though, the bars and restaurants were adequate.
People can smoke in the bar seating area, and it does get really smokey.
It does also cater for very large groups of school children. When your sitting having a drink of an evening they are very noisy.
The biggest let down were the staff, from the reception staff to the waiters, they were all very very rude. Too numerous to tell you about them all.
In fact we had the same kind of reception in the shops and restaurants all over Prague, they don’t have any manners and they are blatantly rude.
Also found Prague quite expensive.
Even though the tourist parts are really lovely to look at, we all left Prague very disappointed with the way we were treated, and all have said we wont ever go back.

The Hotel Duo in Prague was a very good hotel to stay in. Although it is situated just outside the city it has a metro station outside the hotel which runs on time all day and evening. It is very cheap to travel. A ticket can be purchased which lasts for 75 mins and you can travel from the hotel to the centre, and also use the same ticket for the trams. The hotel itself is very comfortable the rooms were spacious and kept cool by the air con. The hotel dining areas were very good and the restaurant was not overpriced. The food was good and you could purchase snacks during the day from the bar if you wished. If you walk to the metro just opposite is a couple of blocks of flats between the flats is a bar very cheap for drinks. A large beer and small beer cost around a ?1 much cheaper than the hotel or in town if you just want a drink. Used by the locals but very friendly. I would certainly go to the Duo again and have not hesitation to recommend to my friends.

Stayed at the Hotel Duo Prague for 3 nights in May 2008. Looks rather austere from the outside but actually the rooms are fine, with plenty of space and a decent shower. There are 3 lifts servicing the 9 floors and usually no waiting is necessary.
The location is out of town but by happy coincidence the new metro station opposite the hotel had opened just 3 days before our arrival. Clean, modern, cheap and efficient, links to central Prague in about 10 minutes.
The hotel lobby is spacious with a reasonably priced bar and, contrary to other reviews, the staff were friendly and amenable. Given the glorious weather we had, the beer garden was a bonus and the topless sun-bathers an added bonus!
Breakfast was a bit hectic, especially with coach parties descending en masse for feeding pre-departure. The quality and variety was fine, although it leads me to my one gripe about the place (a very minor one you might think) but the breakfast apple juice is either watered down or it is the weakest anywhere on the planet.
Overall, enjoyable stay, would go back.

I have just returned from a 4 day trip to prague staying at this hotel and i can honestly say i would not waste my money by staying at this hotel again.1st the plus side the room is clean and tidy ,the bathroom is clean and the new metro station is literally 2 minutes walk from the hotel with a great cheap and regular service to prague etc (get the 100kc ticket for 24hrs unlimited travel on metro tram etc well worth the money) ,the breakfast buffet is fantastic all you can eat and good quality.2nd the negative side the bar is overpriced and the staff can be quite rude, the restaurants are overpriced too, though the meal we had on the 1st night as we were late in was nice but not worth the price, most of the rooms and the lobby area were in need of updating and renovation, you need to buy your own tea coffee and milk supplies in as you only get 2 teabags and 2 coffees as a welcome pack (a small thing i now but it does count!),the bathroom is a bit outdated and i found the height of the bath a bit dangerous when getting in and out of the shower! ( if you go you will see what i mean!!!).
Using the metro was a good experience and i would recommend it to any one visiting Prague.
If you are after a cheap drink try bar 69 on navratilova?just behind charles square.
reception staff were SOOOO unfriendly!

i stayed at hotel duo with my boyfriend last summer, and i thought for the price the hotel was great. It as really clean and tidy and had everything that a hotel needs. However, the reception staff were the rudest people I ever came across in my life. On my last day, I had a concusion and collapsed in front of reception and woke up to find other travellers trying to help me while the reception staff SAT AND LOOKED. The other randomers called the doctor while they just sat behind reception as if nothing had happened. Shortly after,I had to ring my mother to tell her that I needed to go to hosptal. I used the reception phone and at the end of the call the fee was something along the lines of 6euro. I only had 5.80 and the receptionist was roaring at me,shouting, just being a complete idiot.
Great hotel, HORRIBLE receptionists.
