was meant to be going to dublin but my boyfriend decided to look for his passport 5 minutes before we had to leave for the airport...couldnt find it so we couldnt go!
he quickly booked up this hotel to make up for the weekend that he nearly ruined!
so he didnt really have time to search for a perfect hotel but if we had we'd have probably picked this one anyway. great location, good prices.
room, staff and breakfast were great.
only negitive thing i can say is that the 'free wi-fi' was terrible, didnt work at all and when it did it was for about 2 seconds! we had quickly packed a laptop so we could plan our time in edinburgh as we kind of didnt have a clue where we were going or what there was to do. so the internet would have been really useful but we just relied on the many leaflets in the hotel and had a great time!!

This hotel specifically because of it's location. It was in a fantastic spot, only trouble is that when we were there the WHOLE of the front street had been dug up with repair works - which made is difficult to access the hotel as you physically couldn't drive into the street. Luggage had to be dragged for a bit. We had just taken a 24 hour flight from Australia, and then a 1 hour drive from Glasgow to arrive there just as it started to snow - and t was actually a little difficult to find because of all the road blockages around the surrounding streets. This I am sure was totally unavoidable. The staff were VERY friendly and helpful - whatever we wanted we got - and in an instant of asking for it. Was very happy with the service. The room was a little dated and not as bright and welcoming as they showed on their website. Something I have learned NOT to fully trust. But it was nice to get into a hot bath after a long flight. Bed was surprisingly comfortable. Ryan's Pub across the road was a fantastic spot for a meal and a beer! Kudos to the staff for recommending it!

This hotel is great. It's just at the west end of Princes Street.
The rooms are clean, with usual tea & coffe making facilities, multi channel TV, room service, telephone etc. All rooms en suite.
The breakfast is fruit juice, cerials and fruit, then a cooked breakfst which is more than enogh to start your day.
I was there for two nights as i was in Edinburgh on business.
The people i met said they thought it was great.
I am going to book into here again later in the year for a familt weekend in Edinburgh. It is so near all the main attractions and places to go.
One THING.......Edinburgh is currently instting a Tram system so the streets are full of construction works. This is not heard from the hotel rooms..

Good Location, shame about the tramworks outside the front but manageable. Staff very friendly and helpful.Breakfast fine and freshly cooked
Room rather small and very hot. Had to open window and double glazing which made it very noisy. Lots of calling and shouting until early hours, them the bin men with their "beep- beep" came along. If we could have kept window shut it would have been OK

The hotel is in a great location when sightseeing and shopping around edinburgh but the staff seriously need some customer service training. I also work in a busy hotel and I know it can be a bit stressful sometimes, however, I would never purposefully be rude to customers when they haven't even done enything. The foreign man on reception was the least helpful and rude person ever. Answered questions with a grunt while also making sarcastic smiles and comments. I booked a room with a bath and when asking this man whether there was eny other rooms as ours didn't have a bath I was looked at as if I were simple and told 'just because you book a bath doesn't mean you'll get one, it's just whether there are any available on the day!' I mean, come on, just say there was a cock up...sorry! Not hard. Any way other than the rude man and the tiny bedroom where the TV only worked on 2 channels, everything else was great. Didn't eat there and the shower was really powerful and always had hot water.
