Made a last minute reservation based on a recommendation by the staff at the booked local Holiday Inn Express. Arriving at 9:30 PM and the motel being right next to the interstate and near a truck-stop I was not expecting much. Wow - I was wrong. Very friendly front desk staff picked a nice quiet room and made sure I knew the best place to park and that I still had time to enjoy the pool. The room was spacious and well appointed. Very nice bedding and linens, excellent in-room coffee, free wired, high-speed Internet connection, etc. Very clean and well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was well stocked with very friendly and helpful staff to help you. Lot's of choices of fruit, cereal, breads, pastries, fresh waffles, sausage and biscuits, etc, etc. Very unexpected gem!

There were extreme cleanliness issues in the room, and the late night front desk was indifferent. Really -- I requested a clean blanket, and when she was having trouble finding a new one, she said "do you really need a blanket?" Wow. It was as though complaints about dirty bedding were a nightly occurrance. The morning staff was more receptive and offered a bill adjustment, so we left with a slightly better taste. The breakfast was adequate. I understand this is the best place to stay in Ogallala. Next time, we'll adjust our route and stay in Kearney.

This is obviously an older motel but very clean and adequate. They have an indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub (although the jets were not working the night we were there). They had the best exercise room we saw on our 16 day road trip but it was not open until 10 a.m. and we had to move on. We used the coupon in one of those discount travel books you can pick up in gas stations. Friendly staff. Would stay here again.

I spent the night at this hotel in 1985 and thought I would give them another try last week as we were passing through. The hotel is perfectly adequate for a highway stop. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and pretty good. I would judge this to be a "better than most" Best Western experience. Be sure and stop at a truck stop before checking in and you can get the rate they advertise in those Lodging magazines.
