A pleasant stay at a clean hotel

What is past is past, this hotel is turning over a new leaf. Having read the reviews here I was nervous about the stay, but had heard good things from the local establishment. Turns out they were right!
On arrival I was greeted by the desk clerk and was quickly checked in to a room on the backside of the hotel. Because of the interior pool and conference space, the layout of the hotel is a long walk almost everywhere until you learn the shortcuts. The elevator is exceptionally small to the second level, but that means you don't have to share if you just stretch out a bit. A small complaint is the chosen (newer?) carpet for the hallways has ridges and each time a roller suitcase comes down the hall, it transmits noise and vibration adjacent. I can't say enough about the importance of smooth hallway carpeting to make for a quiet and vibration-free environment.
The room was very clean and well furnished with dark woods, a deep green modern carpet and complimentary colored bedspreads. The window was large and let in substantial light when the drapes were pulled. I was provided a double queen and had generous room to move about. A large entryway with a clothes rack, mini refrigerator, coffee maker and occasional space was finished in a deep green granite, as was the bathroom counter. The desk had a comfortable modern mesh fabric chair. An occasional chair was on it's own sans table or light in the far corner, making it unfortunately rather unattractive for sitting or reading. The hvac unit was quiet with digital controlled temperature that kept the room at the temperature as indicated. The bathroom was tight, but featured a bump out curtain rod for some extra space. A small complaint was the carpet edge was unfinished from the main space to the bathroom and is a tripping hazard. Nothing a good carpet installer can't fix and it may have been the exception not the rule.
The hotel has two free wifi servers and I had no problem connecting to one, but intermittent problems connecting to the other. A good strategy to have two servers, nonetheless. Data speeds were well within expectations. Cell service was unusually spotty for AT&T service, other carriers may have better luck. The desk lamp had two outlets and the entry area had a GCFI outlet, so plenty of convenient power to charge from.
The hotel restaurant is decent, though I only took breakfast there. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The attached casino bar is a friendly enough place, but poor ventilation leads to a bit too much smoke for me.
The conference and pool areas are very dated with what appears to be the original faux new orleans finish, mixed in with a bit of the old west. If they redo this space, then they will have put themselves another rung up the ladder. The space appeared functional and probably the largest space in town. Odd that the rooms open via sliding glass door to this space, I can only imagine what this must be like for guests unfortunate enough to stay when a reception or function is taking place. I asked for and received an outside room in advance and would tend in that direction unless you are sure you could handle the possibility of an interior function. By outside room I mean an interior entry, but facing the exterior of the building rather than the interior courtyard.
The shuttle to and from their fine airport was fast and friendly as the airport is only 5 minutes from the hotel. There is a direct dial phone in the terminal for a pickup on arrival.
A new hotel is being built down the road that looks to be a challenger for conference space. If the Best Western keeps up the improvements, they will do well to compete. If not, they may be caught short. The stay here was enough to say above average and I'd be back, but with a wandering eye first to the known and unknown competition down the road

This hotel is well past its hayday. Very outdated. Our room smelled and the halls are dingy and labyrintine. No breakfast. Business center has an old outdated computer and pool is not well maintained. Paint was peeling from pool. No towels at the pool. $1 coupons for their small restaurant was inadequate. Front desk staff were not dressed professionally.

Choosed hotel due to a wedding. Long hallways, confusing room numbering, and sections under renovation. The actual room was worn, dated, but clean. The front desk went beyond thier duties many times. Just really nice people. The hotel has onsite wash/dryer. Lots of fair priced vending machines. Fun little bar. Not a "vacation" hotel but a great little place if passing through town. Also try a fast food place-Taco Treat. Might be Great Falls claim to fame.

Stayed for one night while passing through Great Falls. The check-in was OK, the staff friendly enough but not at all professional. The room was a bit worn, but clean enough. The layout of the hotel , however, was strange. Inside rooms are entered from an interior hallway. When we opened our curtains on the oposite end of the room we found another door entering onto an inside ballroom (?) which was being used for a convention. The dinner and speeches began around 6 PM (using a well-amplified sound system ensuring that all convention attendees as well as all inside room guests were entertained the entire evening).
The resturant was very good with fine food at a decent price and very friendly and competent staff.
Check out was not the greatest. Staff was surly, no plesantries, seemed to care less if we enjoyed our stay or would ever be back.
