This was my second stay at the Berns Hotel. The first was three years ago when I stayed in December, occupying a suite with my wife.On that visit the first night was unpleasant due to the sound of dance music from a Christmas party and the flippant, "well it is Christmas", attitude of the staff.I read the reviews on Trip Advisor before booking a weekend visit staying in a small double room with my 14 year old son.I booked for this second weekend visit despite the issues with noise becuase I knew we would arrive late on the Friday evening and after going out to dinner we would not get to bed until around 2am.The same would apply on the second night because we would be back late from an all day rock festival. Yes,noise from the in house club and disco is an issue. Entering the hotel past night club bouncers isn't ideal for a top price hotel. But the Berns scores on alot of other points. Even the small rooms are well appointed. The beds are extremely comfortable.Ironically,There is little noise from the corridors, lifts and adjoining rooms. The staff are pleasant overall. However,I could do without the standard buffet breakfast. I didn't see the rats in the park outside the hotel mentioned in one other reports.Although, I was told by a local that things get a bit out of hand at nightclub closing time the revellers on the streets of the city centre were not aggressive or intimidating. However, having spent my youth in nightclubs in Northern England I may be a liitle battle hardened. The hotel is perfectly placed for all the major sights:Gamla Stan,Stureplan,Vasa Museum and Skansen are all within walking distance as is the Tunnelbana. The lesson from my visits to Stockholm is that you can find quiet boltholes but the locals love their nightlife and if you come for a break you should stay up late. There is something late at night for everyone. We sat down to eat at the Sturehof (highly recommended) at gone midnight and it was perfectly acceptable for my son to be out late. The Berns is good enough to cancel out the negatives.

Very nice location, but ideal for the young and the party age group. In the center of the city and a fairly busy place at night. But in all had a great time.

Having seen a few other reviews, I'd agree that this is NOT a place for children. This is an adults hotel. It's quirky, upmarket and very nouveau. It's located not far from the Sture (Sturehof is, indeed, one of the best restaurants in the world and not to be missed). The staff are friendly, the breakfast filling. The rooms are all different and I've had good rooms and just a notch off of good.
It's silly that you have to ask for the internet cable (no wireless) before you go up to your room, but that's the only negative I can come up for this hotel.
