We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. The location is really fantastic. Our room was lovely, spacious and clean. It had lovely views. The restaurant on the roof is wonderful, great setting and great food.
Unfortunately we found that the hotel staff, apart from the concierge, were really unfriendly. Not up to the level of service you expect in a hotel classed as luxury. They all seemed that hey could not care less about their clients. The doorman in 4 days has not said a word to us, not once has he said hello or enquired about our day. He was completely ignoring anyone walking in or out of the hotel.
The front desk staff is not any friendlier, they hardly say hello or smile. When we checked out no one asked wether we had a good stay and if we were happy with the hotel. A few smiles and a little small talk would have made all the difference. This was certainly not up to 5 stars.

Excellent hotel!

We stayed in the Grand Hotel de la Minerve for 3 nights, the hotel was excellent, the rooms were lovely and very quiet at night. Staff very friendly and helpful and the concierge was fantastic in helping us to book into local restaurants. All of the main sightseeing sites are minutes away - the Pantheon is literally on the doorstep of the hotel. We walked everywhere and only got taxis to and from the airport.
While the food was excellent, the only downside we experienced was the cost of lunch in the hotel's roof garden. We ate there just after we checked in (on recommendation from the reception desk) and found it extremely expensive in comparison to everywhere else we ate in Rome after that. There are so many great restaurants nearby, I would recommend eating outside of the hotel!
Other than that, as other reviewers have said, I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Rome. It is an excellent hotel and you can't beat the location!
Perfection!

Just returned from a long weekend in Rome. Was booked into the Grand Hotel for a business trip and decided to extend my stay as wanted to see Rome properly. My husband and son joined me there. From a business perspective it was perfect. From a family perspective it was perfect too. It is expensive, but I do not begrudge a penny of it. The hotel is in a wonderful location. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly - they do the hotel proud. There is a great choice of coffee bars and restaurants very near for breakfast and dinner (which are a bit pricey in the hotel). One really pleasant surprise was the peaceful rooms. Rome is a very busy city but this hotel manages to be in a prime location whilst allowing an undisturbed nights sleep. Save up and go - its worth it.

This hotel bills itself a five star hotel. It simply is NOT. In a fantastic location near everything, this is a hotel with an atitiude...and not a very good one at that. It seems that they do you a favor giving you a room! The rooms are very small, and we stayed in a Jr. Suite!! The bathrooms are clean and adequate. Food in the hotel is a total ripoff...even if you pay in Euros. I mean 15 Euro for a cocktail? Or 22 Euro for an appetizer portion of pasta...or my favorite from the room service menu, a club sandwich at 27 Euro and Ice cream for 20, bringing the total to 47 Euro or (at $1.60 to the dollar), about $70!! And don't forget if you eat breakfast in the hotel is E25 ($40.00) Amazing. The view from the roof is incredible and like I said before, the location is just fantastic. We would recommend having a coffee at St Estacio (two blocks away), which serves the best coffee in Rome. And it's only 3 Euro. IF you need to stay in a real five star hotel, look elsewhere!! If you don't mind small rooms and a bit of an atitude, do stay here...Very disappointing!!
