Do not stay at this hotel

I have been to Mykonos on two prior occasions, but wanted to find a really nice hotel to stay at, close to town. I researched hotels on the internet and saw the Ilio Maris Hotel. It represented that it was a newly renovated hotel and appeared to be a 4 or 5 star hotel. We arrived on a Friday night late due to missing our flight. When our taxi arrived at the hotel (the hotel has no transportation from the airport), I could not believe it. The hotel is literally a dump, right on the main road into town with mopeds and other vehicles constantly traveling in front of the hotel. They showed us to this room that is right off the main road. The room was pitiful, it looked like a really shabby motel 6. The furniture was garage sale quality, and the bathroom was so small two people could not fit in it. We slept only 2 hours the entire night because the room was so noisy from all the mopeds and pipes over our heads. We could not wait until the sun came up to get out of there. They charged us for two nights, which was 158 Euros each night! I was furious and told them the room was not worth more than 50 Euros, if that. They didn't care. We found the Grand Beach just five minutes away, for 120 Euros (100 euros without the jacuzzi tub!), and it was absolutely beautiful, marble floors, beautiful view and pool. The staff are wonderful and I would recommend the Grand Beach to anyone..

Personnel tres serviable.

After reading reviews i decided to write my opinion
I've been to Mykonos about 9 times I LOVE IT!!! However Mykonos is one of the most expensive islands in greece. This means you pay more for less especially in hotels.
I've stayed at ilio maris 3 times and will probably stay again.
Reasons this hotel is a plus:
Very close to town yet not in the middle of the craziness
its walkable. One of the biggest problems in Mykonos is getting a cab especially after 12am. its CHAOS so i dont ever want to deal with that. Mopeds are fine but dangerous on this island
Therefore there is a convenience issue with the ilio maris.
Pool is very nice with a gorgeous views
Staff is fine and breakfast is O.K. Room and bathroom are not new but they are fine (higher floors for sure)
My point is FOR THE PRICE, IN MYKONOS hotel is about right
This is not a 5 star probably in my opinion a 3 star

We stayed at this family run smallish hotel for 4 nights during a 2 week holiday in Greece including Athens, Mykonos, Santorini and Crete. The hotel appeared to have been recently refurbished during our June 2006 stay. The location on the edge of town was very good, just up from the bus station and a only few minutes walk to the main part of town. Our first room upstairs was spacious, comfortable with a small balcony with views over the windmills, town and port and quite a good bathroom. After a ferry cancellation due to high winds (not uncommon apparently) the hotel staff were very helpful in changing our onwards bookings and put us into an upgraded ground floor suite for the extra night. The breakfasts were good with the option of on demand freshly made expresso coffee. We enjoyed the pool in between our other activities and trips by bus to Paradise and other beaches.

Hotel in schöner Lage
