My partner and I stayed here as we both had business in the area. We booked the hotel via a hotel booking web-site and got a very competitve price compared to the ones offered by the hotel's web-site. It was clean throughout and the staff were friendly. The hotel is very oldie worldie and the gardens are lovely, I would like to stay again for pleasure and not business related. We ate in the restaurant, although the food was very nice I thought it was rather over priced for the quantity you get. I would recommend this hotel for business or pleasure trips.

“A Gem of a Hotel”
My daughter and I recently stayed at this wonderful gem of a hotel on a recent trip through parts of Lancashire and Yorkshire.
After several nights of B&B’s and pub food we decided to have a different night in at Holdsworth House, a hotel I had heard of previously.
After the stress of motorways and busy ring roads, turning into the driveway gave the feeling of something special ahead. The building dates from the 17th Century and the hotel itself is a family-run establishment and I think the wonderful attention to detail reflects this. Its features are beautifully preserved but it’s not ‘too perfect’ so manages to retain a lovely homely atmosphere. The staff were friendly and welcoming, our room cosy and quiet. The restaurant is comprised of 3 intimate rooms and there’s a small bar and lounge room and they all have a wonderful atmosphere. Our meal was superb and was accompanied by a very good wine list, all in all I think the restaurant is worthy of all the awards it has received. Breakfast next morning was excellent and was in the same restaurant room we had dinner, this time we could look out over the Parterre garden which I imagine looks absolutely gorgeous in the summer months.
It was a pleasure to be in such lovely surroundings. I travel quite a bit and would rate this experience highly. It’s also not hard to see why it’s such a popular place for weddings.

I've stayed here many times during the past few years and cannot fault the friendly staff and general high standards - even happier now they have at last got great duvets, it can be cold in Yorkshire even in May! Also like the big towels, think I must have put on a bit of weight eating the restaurant here.

Yes you can hear the noise of moving people on the top of room .
The room is always cold when you get in for the first time. So you need to turn the heat on and wait.
The receptionists make too much noise , I just cannot steep in peace. I did have problems with noise, Showers.
I was not able to take a proper shower; the water is just not there. I hope to see some American hotel in Halifax like Marriot / Hilton
They need to put 25 inch TV .. TVs are too small like Kid 's TV
bye

A very good friend had her wedding at Holdsworth recently and I just wish there were places like that near where we live. The house is magic, not too big and so atmospheric. Food excellent and very good service, not over the top but genuinely caring. Our bedroom was a bit girly for my partner but I loved it. Family and friends came from all over the country and we were so happy that it was such a fabulous day, in spite of windy weather.
