We actually adjusted the dates of our trip to Spain so that we could stay at the Hesperia. A year ago, this was one of the top hotels (if not THE top one) in Cordoba. Not sure why it's dropped in the rankings. Our room was clean, quiet and modern, and had a fabulous view of the Mezquita... which by the way looks incredible at night. The most shocking thing about the hotel was that it had much better food than most restaurants in Cordoba, which apparently subscribe to the belief that you can serve anything to tourists since they won't be coming back anyway. Even the sangria was better (and stronger!) than at most restaurants, which tend to water it down or maybe do one of those powder deals, kind of like sangria kool-aid. The staff was cordial, including a waitress who was the nicest person we met in Spain despite her limited English. We thought this place was absolutely awesome and are puzzled by its drop in popularity.

We stayed at the Hesperia Cordoba for two nights in September. It is a lovely hotel in a great location. While it is true that the Roman bridge is closed, which means that you have to walk a bit further to another bridge in order to get to the city, the increased walking time is not that significant. Moreover, bridge issues notwithstanding, the hotel still has a beautiful view of the Mezquita -- especially from its roof terrace. We were given a room on the second floor of the hotel, facing the Mezquita. The view was great, but found it very noisy being at the front the hotel, just over the entrance. We would recommend that you request a room facing the Mezquita, but on a higher floor.

This hotel was well placed for access to the old town of Cordoba (will be even better when the Roman bridge is re-opened). The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The view of Cordoba from the roof terrace was superb, recommend having a night cap in the terrace bar.
