This is a lovely old hotel with a great staff, nice rooms (ours had a small balcony overlooking a garden), and very good breakfast.
It is a little farther away from some of the great parts of Rome, like ancient Rome and the Vatican, but the tradeoff is a larger room for less money, a truly wonderful staff, and a more peaceful location, near beautiful parks. We would walk in the AM when it was still cooler and we were energetic, then take a taxi back. Since there were four of us, this wasn't even too expensive. I would definitel recommend this hotel for peace-seekers!

The daytime front desk clerk was very good and helpful. The night time staff did not speak any english.
The rooms were not at all like the picture on their website. My room had mildewed walls and the furnishings had seen better days.
The location was okay and within walking distance of the fountain and such.
They offered free airline pick up service which was great, but the driver was leaving as I came out of the bagage area. So I almost missed him. I went directly from the plane to customs to the luggage and didn't waste any time, so I was surprised that he was leaving. Luckily I caught him.
Okay, but I would never stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

panama garden hotel

we enjoyed an excellent stay at the above hotel, we found the staff both helpful and extreme courteous. The hotel while a distance from the center of Rome, was easily accessible by both bus and tram. The room while small had a balcony with patio furniture, and we enjoyed very nice evenings there. Locally there are very good restaurants and bars both serving very good and inexpensive food. The hotel also has a lovely garden, where guests can enjoy a leisurely drink or even a coffee. This combined with very good staff made our stay very enjoyable, we would have no hesitation recomending it to our friends.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our first wedding anniversary and found it suited our needs very well. The room was small but spotlessly clean, and the decor was pleasant. The bathroom was a good size with a powerful shower, toiletries provided and nice big fluffy towels.
The hotel is situated in a quiet, upmarket suburb of Rome near the Villa Borghese. Taxis to and from the centre cost between 6 (Termini station) and 12 euros (Travastere) - not 35 euros as one reviewer states (one imagines this wasn't an official taxi - common sense is sometimes required!) A variety of buses run from a stop about five minutes walk away from the hotel and take about fifteen minutes to reach the main historical centre - so pretty convenient.
Staff were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was very good, a huge range of pastries, bread, cheese, ham and fruit (and, strangely, cake!). There is a pleasant garden one can breakfast in - just ask the waiters to open the doors. All in all, great value (we paid 99 euros per night, the rack rate is higher).
