To start with the location of the hotel: simply excellent. You can't get much closer to the center of Vienna. The Hotel itself prides it to be one of the best in Vienna and would guess they are not completely wrong about that. The room I was assigned was huge and in excellent condition. Really old world charme everywhere. Personally I would perfer a more modern feel and furniture - but that is certainly not the fault of the hotel. Everything was clean and in very good condition though. The quality of the bed was little on the downside. I've seen much better in less pricy hotels there. Same with the other areas of the hotel. Very nice if you are looking for that kind of hotel. But to me it felt a little, let's say stiff and not really welcoming. This also goes for the service and check-in as well as check-out. Very professional and reserved friendly but no genuine smiles or welcome. Would I return to the Ambassador? Maybe - but probably I would try a different hotel next time. Again, nothing wrong with the hotel, room and/or service - everything just what the hotel promises - but it did not make me feel truly comfortable during my stay.

Stayed at the Ambassador for a conference nearby. It is a great hotel. Lovely rooms with high ceilings and wooden floors. Very good breakfast and a popular bar in the hotel. It is within walking distance to everything. We also got a great price on the internet.

We stayed here and loved Vienna, very stylish, opera, architecture and sophisticated. This Hotel was, I'm sure, thee place to go in days gone past, so what is left today is lovely rooms, refurbished & of a good size. These sit over a once grand foyer that has had the misfortune of very modern lifts being installed and parts of the ground floor being sold off for high street shops. So dont go for the grand foyer & restaurant experience, but the rooms are great, simply because they are the original rooms with high ceilings and very good quality furnishings. Reception is very poor, cold & has only one member of staff on duty at any time, so again dont expect great service or a great attitude. The location is truly central & once installed in this location, Vienna is on your doorstep, a must is the Opera & the Sisi Apartments ( Elizabeth Museum). Just be careful should you order a cab from the Hotel reception- it will be a private cab & twice the price of a normal one!

Lovely central hotel. We had a large room complete with chandelier and well appointed bathroom, although I could have done with more light over the mirror. We were a little disappointed to come back to our room after lunch and find the bed still unmade. We also felt that the staff could have been more friendly and helpful, specially in comparison with the superb Hotel Pest in Budapest. We paid our bill and hauled our luggage out with no offer of help, or even a friendly goodbye!
