I just came back from a stay at the Sana Estoril with a large group. It is nothing like what you see on their web site. The rooms we had were shabby in need of paint and a remodeling. The tub had rust stains on the corners. While some rooms were a good size, mine barely fit the 2 twin beds and desk placed in the room My husband and I had to do a little dance around each other and the furniture so we could move around the room to get to the closet and the bathroom. We called for repairs twice to get the air conditioner running and the TV working. The automatic wakeup service on the phone didn't work and we had to have the front desk call us every morning. Warning: There is NO health club as stated on the web site. When we asked about this, we were told that the web site was several years old and hadn't been updated. Customer service was an alien concept. The front desk has some very rude people, however, the maids were very nice. The hotel did not meet our expectations set by the information and pictures we saw on the web site. The hotel says its a 3 star, but its at most 2 star.
On the plus side, the hotel provides a great view of the beach and coast. It is within walking distance of the train station where you can take a train into Lisbon. Its a short walk from the casino, but there were very few nice resturants in the area. This could be a nice place to stay if your expectations are for a simple room.

We were really looking forward to a week's break in a nice quiet hotel where we could relax completely. Hotel Sana Estoril had good and bad points, I'll start with the good...
The staff were wonderful. Really friendly and helpful. The bar staff were so friendly (one barman in particular was so chatty and great fun), and the lady who cleaned the rooms was lovely too. The hotel is really central - 2 minutes walk to the beach, the casino, the train and bus station. The room was clean, which is always a good sign.
However, the room itself was disppointing. It needed redecorating. Our room was spacious enough (I heard others complain of no space) and our bathroom was quite large too. But our room was on the 4th floor, which is the floor breakfast is served on. So basically anyone coming for breakfast had to pass our room which meant no sleep-ins for us! Not only that, but our room was right in front of the lift - disaster! We were offered a different room on complaining but the view wasn't as nice so we didn't bother. There was also a really awful smell from the bathroom the majority of the time, like sewerage. It really was horrible and we had to keep the bathroom door closed which was difficult seeing as it weighed a tonne and was surprisingly hard to close (weird)! Also, if traffic affects your sleep do not ask for a sea view - view, fab, noise of traffic, awful.
That's all I have to say right now. Estoril is a lovely spot, but I would advise people to pay that bit extra to stay in a 4 star.

This is a bizarre hotel. When booking in, we were told that we could have a room with a double bed, OR one with a balcony, but the combination of these two things was impossible. The room we chose was dingy and very much in need of refurbishment.
The swimming pool, which in publicity pictures is shown in a very flattering light, is part of a leisure centre/gym adjoining the hotel. It was dirty and rather unpleasant, and had a meagre number of cheap plastic sunbeds around it. The hotel has no grounds and there is nowhere else to sit out.
Inside, there is a very fine room on the ground floor with chandeliers and sofas. However in the evening it is brightly lit and not at all conducive to sitting in and I didn't see anyone using it.
I would not recommend this hotel - if in the area, the nearby Hotel Inglaterra is much nicer.

Stayed at the Sana Estoril for 7 nights in June this year, we originally booked the hotels Estoril Package which included a drink at the bar every day, 4 evening meals, car hire, free entry to the hotel nightclub and entry to dinner and show at the casino. When we arrived i informed reception we didn't want the car (as the trains and buses leave from just along from the hotel) and probably wouldn't be going to the casino, they said it was no problem and they would adjust our bill.
We had a corner room on the top floor with dual aspect windows offering superb views of the Atlantic coast, room was easily large enough for 2 people, the air conditioning was fantastic, and everything worked ok, the bathroom was a little bit small but no big deal.
Breakfast was very nice, continental buffet plus scrambled eggs and bacon, coffee and juices.
In the end we didn't use any of the hotel facilities as the spotlessly clean Estoril beach is very close by, and we enjoyed the walk along the seafront and eating at the many restaurants in Cascais and Estoril (where we could watch the World Cup games) Upon checkout all the unused services were removed from our bill and we were charged just the standard nightly rate.
The Hotel is in a good location, albeit at the top of a slight hill, the road at the front can be quite busy, and the hotel nightclub a bit noisy(only Fridays and Saturdays), so ask foor a high floor. There is a supermarket in the street next to the hotel.

We were a group of five adults and one toddler and this is the view of all in our party. Not suitable here if you have young children . No access for buggys they must be carried up two flights of steps to gain access to the hotel, no ramps at all. no childrens pool or amenities.
Rooms in my opinion and of those in our party were sub standard, we had a leak in room every time the shower above us was used, and it was not possible to close the bathroom door toilet seat falling off and shower curtain fell on my head twice !!! this i may add was after being moved from a room on the sixth floor that you could not swing a cat in!!!. breakfast edible nothing to write home about, very basic. staff not over friendly, however one barman called Philippe very helpful and spoke great english. Pool bar no good and not always possible to get a drink not staffed all the time during the day. Pool very small and not very clean at one stage i found a cigarrete stub in it, I never saw anyone clean it in our one week stay!!! steep hill going down to the promenade and casino area so i would not recommend it for the elderly or people with walking difficulties. All in all not very impressive and in my view two star would be more than sufficient !!!!
