The San Marco came recommended as a top quality 4* by Holiday House, and they were bang on!
We were looking for a nice quiet getaway and this place was perfect. It was located about 10 mins from town, built into a quiet hillside with horses on one side and palm trees on the other with a wonderful view of the water. The resort isn't beachfront, but the freshwater pool is just as refreshing.
The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for. A typical day for us was, each morning we were woken by the birds chirping and the sun shining (not a cloud in the sky the whole 5 days we were there). We'd then head to the breakfast buffet and was always greeted by Hara (the restaurant and bar manager) while we ate breakfast outdoors. She was extremely friendly and very accomodating. Then in the afternoon we'd move to a lounge chair by the pool, read as we sipped on Mythos while electronic jazz and lounge music played over the pool. It was bliss. We had dinner by candlelight in the restaurant (again served by Hara and her staff), overlooking the mediterranean while watching the cruise ships coming in and out of the harbour and listening to traditional Greek music. The food was fantastic, and baklava was to die for! We'd then either take the hotel shuttle (which was free) into town to enjoy the nightlife, or we'd retire to our veranda with a bottle of wine.
Our hotel room was nice, modest yet perfect for our needs (other than having our 2 twin beds pushed together to make 1but we understand now that that's normal for Greece). We had a view of the sea and a nice stone veranda with a bistro set to relax on.
We can't say enough positive things about the hotel and their staff.
Overall, our visit to the San Marco hotel, Mykonos the island and Greece in general was incredible. We'd return in a heartbeat.
Thanx,
Carolyn and Kevin - Ontario, Canada

I went to Mykonos through a tour group and stayed at this hotel. Cute room with a great view of the Aegean. Had bought four boxes of cookies at a famous bakery one day and when I was out meandering around, two boxes were stolen. My bags and my friend's bags were rummaged through. I told the management and they didn't seem to care. I wouldn't stay there again.

The Unforgettable Honeymoon
Guest name: lalichelle, NY
We were at San Marco for our Honeymoon and we loved it! We got upgraded to the best suite (honeymoon suite) with the best view of the ocean. It was breathtaking. They also welcomed us with a complimentary wine and fruits. The room was clean and spacious. Our room was all the way to the top which can be tough to walk for some but we didn't mind. We are a young couple.
The staff especially Hara, Anestis, Vasso, Kleanthis & Fatus were wonderful. They were friendly and accomodating. We even partied with them at Mykonos Bar (great bartenders and music).
The pool is beautiful and clean. San Marco is in a quiet area but they provide a shuttle. They give the shuttle schedule when you check in.
We also enjoyed the food and of course the service.
Overall, it was a fabulous, unforgettable honeymoon. We will definitely come back and stay at San Marco again.
Thanks for a great experience, San Marco!
Very Nice

An excellent front desk staff that was courteous and helpful. My lovely room was at the top of the hill, with a tremendous view of the sea. However, a climb to the top for an elderly person requires planning. You only want to do it once a day! The food was excellent and the service polite and responsive. The breakfast mentioned in the prior review is not accurate – unless you are a very, very picky person. Transfers to and from the airport were efficient. Van service to town was efficient and on time, but you need to plan your visits around the schedule, which can be somewhat limiting. Taxi service is limited and available only after long waits. The hotel is remote to the harbor area and can’t be walked – a serious limitation from my point-of-view. The advertised beach area across from the hotel in not useable as it is all rocks – boulders – and impossible to easily navigate. The pool is, however, attractive and clean. Those who complain about the cost of drinks should remember that this is a remote island where supplies need to be shipped in at additional cost. Coupled with the declining dollar, prices are high. Complaining Americans should stay home if they can’t enjoy the uniqueness of a foreign culture – and can’t afford worldwide prices. An excellent value for my money, but I personally would much prefer to be closer the center of the town. But if you stay here, you will enjoy the entire experience - if you want to - and don’t miss Delos!

The San Marco is located in a remote area of Mykonos and is good hideout for some coupletime. Almost all the guests there are couples. My stay started with a extremely detailed explanation given by the front desk reception. They were however not very specific when it came to giving instructions on day tours. They just assume you would know when the time comes. Wierd! I was given a room on the highest level and I must say the climb uphill is a challenging task everyday. Apparently, the staff have a hard time too and the so called bell boy even needs to use a truck to transport your luggage uphill! My suggestion is to check and double check everything you need to bring so that you need not make unnecessary trips. The rooms on the highest level has an awesome view of the sea and its really great just sitting at the balcony watching the sea everyday. The rooms are clean and is very spacious, giving a very resort feel. Its especially quaint as you actually get to stay in one of those small cube houses.Breakfast is good and service staff are very attentive to your needs. Although the hotel is located in a remote location, there are shuttle services, although the given timings are very limited. Overall, a good resort-like hotel, except for its location
