Some of the reviews on this site are a tiny bit unfair in my opinion, hotel is clearly not 5 star luxury with ultra modern decor and there is no denying it could do with a good spruce up, but it has an old world charm, nice grand entrance hall as you arrive, decent bar/residents area, guest parking in a secure garage and most of all is in an excellent city centre location. We stayed here for a relatives wedding weekend and spent very little time in the room, when we weren't at wedding we were out and about exloring hereford and Green Dragon is perfect location for this.. pretty much opposite the Cathedrel and Mappa Mundi, round the corner from the Left Bank area, River Wye and the high street. The room itself was large, floor boards a bit creaky and a new bathroom wouldn't go a miss but it served our needs fine... the room decor is more 'traditional hotel' than 'Parisian chic' but it was ok - just as we expected from website pictures! Breakfast was good.. just what you'd expect from a buffett style full english selection, fresh and was being regularly replenished. Staff we met were ok, one of the bar men was very friendly and receptionist was polite and perfectly helpful. All in all for our requirements it was fine - some where to lay our head at not a bad price at ~?70/night, i've stayed in far worse hotels with my job for far more money!! (i think we may have paid reduced party rate - some of the prices quoted by people on this site are probably a bit steep for the over all package, i.e don't think i'd be as happy if i'd paid ?110+ for one night). It included a decent breakfast and was perfect to explore hereford on foot while we were down for the weekend (other similar priced/quality hotels are all out of walking distance of city centre)!

on arrival waited 10 mins no one on reception, a waitress went to look for her, receptionist eventually came ,been out back having cigarette smell fresh smoke on her, didnt look smart,
.
had booked suite 4 poster bed room 235, told it was front of hotel, asked if noisey from queen pub opposite she said queens closed at 11 pm so would be fine. hotel is old musty went to suite, it was 2 rooms in 1 had old settee and chairs leading to bedroom 4 poster had old brocade covers+curtains in rusty orange, most windows had large crack across them, floorboards creaked really badly every step you took.room smelled musty, old bathroom pretty basic bit grubby. ran bath ,brown water came out, shower poor, sink taps slow before water came out.everything looked shabby. that night was kept awake till early hours karaoke on at queens pub opposite [didnt close at 11pm ]seemed like they were singing 'eye of the tiger' in our room so loud heard every song, absolute nightmare.
up early couldnt wait to leave,
breakfast in dining room, another dark old musty room, there was me +husband and elderly coach party having breakfast , food not brilliant ,orange juice had no taste, asked them cook us fried eggs as only scrambled on buffet table stayed 1 night on bed +breakfast paid 110 pounds wasnt worth it.

In Hereford for a wedding party, old Forte hotel which amussingly they have left on all the signs I presume to save money!!
Breakfast was average and expensive, so went down the pub instead for half the price...rooms very tired and in need of a good spruce up...floors very very creaky in the rooms and you can hear everything going on around you...got woken every night by slamming doors etc.
Maid never replensihed the tea & coffee each day...no biscuits etc.
Only good point is the location, which is in the middle of town.

This hotel has an excellent location, smack in the centre of Hereford, and therefore good for all the bars and shops etc.
The car park is a joke, as non-guests can get in there - always full up.
The receptionists are hit and miss, one was helpful, the other was brain dead...
Avoid the toilets by the ground floor lounge, they're disgusting.
In the room, there were some very strange marks on the walls.
The decor is from the 80's i'd say. The shower was iffy.
It's such a shame, as the actual building is really nice.
With a bit of money spent on it, this hotel could be stunning.
