We stayed for a week at the Antemare and having seen some of the poor reviews we were a little aprehensive - but I'm delighted to say we were pleasantly surprised. After changing from our orginal allocated room (the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating over this) we settled in for a great week. The rooms are small but very comfortable and nicely furnished, and serviced daily. The pool area and Ice Chill Out Bar with its funky lighting create an excellent atmosphere in the hotel at night. Its far enough away from the noise of the town, but close enough to walk if you wish, and very close to the beach. Some of the rooms have great sea views (ours did) too. We thought Breakfast was a bit poor but we found out afterwards that it is only continental - in which case its excellent! Overall very happy and would return!

This hotel is nothing like the pictures they show you. The hotel has renovated a small part and thats what the pictures show you. The rooms and the hallways have not changed since the 1980?s.
The only way this could ever be considered a four star hotel, is if the scale would be up to ten stars. Unfriendly staff, out dated rooms and rather dirty. Our room had a broken frame hanging on the wall and the shower looked disgusting... totally unfit for a four star hotel.
They don?t tell you this, but the hotel is in two houses and we were put in the latter one. I have no idea if the situation is better in other house. Our house had one tiny elevator that took us 1/8 of the way to the room. Then you?d have to climb a whole lot of stairs. I had my baby in a stroller which made this mission impossible. I can safely say that this hotel is unsuitable for people with small children and disabled people.
When we arrived there was a group of white trash british people waiting in the lobby and one of them was bending so everyone could see his [--] hanging half out of the trousers! This was a great sign of what was yet to come... as the hotel seems to have attracted alot of these types.
There is a guide in the hotel room as to how to stay safe in the hotel. It is quite obvious that the hotel has been robbed numerous times, as it asks the guests to report to the lobby of any suspicious people hanging in the hallways. There are a couple of entrances into the hotel and this makes it easier for thiefs to enter the hotel. For my part, I did not feel safe at all in the hotel and moved to Sunway where the security is much tighter. For this reason alone, I would reccomend another hotel to anyone travelling to Sitges.
Watch out for all the additional costs... they put a price on EVERYTHING. One hour using the Wi Fi costs 6.50 euros! The Antemare hotel is a typical tourist trap. I recommend staying at the Sunway

My partner & I have stayed at the Antemare Hotel in 2005 and loved it so we returned in August 2007 for the Festival weekend.
The Hotel is well presented internally, and the pool are has been pleasantly refurbished.
Our whole experience was let down by the rude staff who on several occasions ignored us at the bar and pretended not to understand English when we tried to order a drink.
I put a formal written complain to the Hotel Management and this was also ignored.
The food in the restaurant is of a very poor standard, and usually swimming in grease and oil.

I have no idea how the Spanish hotel rating system works, but do not for a second make the mistake as we did of thinking this would be equal to that of a AAA 4 Diamond hotel.
For starters, this property is a 20 minute walk from the center of Sitges. In other words, it is NOT conveniently located. If you would rather not walk, it will be an 8€ taxi fare. Think $11 given the current exchange rate.
The rooms are bare bones. The amenities are of the lowest quality you would find in a US property such as a Motel 6. There isn't even a box of tissue. Each room comes with a little packet that has three or four napkins folded up inside and the package is marked tissue. Our room had odd lavender hued drapes and lavender bed spreads on the twin beds. Pergo floors.
Also, this property advertises itself as being 50 metres from the beach. That is probably a bit of an exaggeration. You'll be walking well over a block to get to the beach, but there is a boardwalk for the 20 minute walk into Sitges....and that is at a nice pace.
Air conditioning cannot be controlled other than to switch it on or off. That's it, on or off. We left it running at all times and the room was acceptable but not as cool as we would have preferred.
Here's another little surprise. If you would like to use the room safe, you pay a 25€ deposit and then a charge of 3€ per day.
It appears a lot of lower end companies put on meetings for their staff at this hotel.
Breakfast was included in our rate.
I would not recommend this property to anyone.
