I Stayed here with my partner for 6 days in Nov 07.
The very good points re this hotel:
-On a side street but close to Gran Via,Chueca,Museums,Retiro Park etc etc etc. Everywhere in city is within walking distance of this hotel so it's a very good central base.
-The rooms are of a good size with plenty of wardrobe space.
-Very good selection of food for buffet breakfast,Cheeses,Hams,Fruits,Juices,Tea,Coffee etc.
The only slight negatives re hotel were the bathroom colour scheme is very dark so tough when shaving and there was a little delay when checking in as reception area not the biggest in this boutique style hotel.
Overall, this is a v good 4 star hotel which is perfect for business travellers and tourists in an excellent location so i would stay here again on one of my future Madrid Trips.

It is centrally located, near Prado and Thyssen Museums, walking distance to almost everywhere in the historic part of Madrid. The street is not very nice, some abandoned builidings, but no issue, many streets in that area are. The hotel decoration is very nice and new, size of the rooms is good, staff is ok, but we were given a room with a window facing internal stairs, so no sunlight or privacy - it had to be closed all the time. Sound proofing is also not very good, specially when people were using the stairs... and breakfast is really expensive!
It would have been a great experience if we had a window facing the street, make sure you ask fo it if you book this hotel.

This hotel is sufficient. Nice, clean, modern rooms, adequate in size. Refrigerator. Free internet (cable 10Euro deposit, will get back). Breakfast is not incuded (16Euro). The only window leads to an ugly internal stairwell, but there is at least a/c. The location is good and within walking distance of Retiro, Museo del Prado and Plaza Mayor (a longer walk to the Royal Palace.). Our email receipt mentioned that we had to pay at booking, but our credit card was never charged (and emails went unanswered). No problem because we just paid upon check-in, and they did honor the 6% advanced booking discount.

Was in Madrid for one day of business and three days of r&r. I let my co-worker book this as he raved about it from his stay in '07.
The Bad: No iron/ironing board available must use their express press service for $$$ and wait 24 hours.
Room Service does not begin until 7 AM, closes in the afternoon for 3 or 4 hours as well. Que?? Unbelievable for a four star hotel. To add insult to injury there is no coffee/tea pot in the room.
No hotel bar. Very non-descript restaurant that would only appeal to the most tired of guests. The lounge was most lame too, just a few sofa's with newspapers available. No option for drinks of any kind. Spent less than 10 minutes in total there, sans a long business lunch.
The Good: Central location, friendly and accommodating staff.
Rooms were OK, comfortable beds but not much space overall.
I'd highly recommend you consider staying at the Hotel De Las Letras. Located a few blocks away and has better/more spacious rooms, full cocktail bar/lounge, full restaurant (street side with views and a pool, sauna & a Jacuzzi. Not to mention a great staff. I stayed there in '07 and will only look to book there for any and all Madrid trips.

This is a really classy cool hotel. Our room was lovely - nice and clean, minimalist and with a little balcony. No disturbances at night time. Good bathroom, nice toiletries and robes!
The breakfast buffet was good, lots to choose from to suit everyone. Location also good, which we thought was important for a city break type holiday. Not far from the shops and restaurants, but also the parks for relaxation.
All in all a very good choice for a long weekend away or a break. No bad comments required!
