The location is great - we took U-ban to Lehel station, walked few monutes to the hotel. The hotel is in a quiet but central location. The hotel has free coffee / tea in lobbie area.
They charge fee for parking, and breakfast is 12 euro per person. Cofee in downtown cafe is about 2.5 euro. My moeny saving tips - we bought 3 days Munich tickets at airport which will give us unlimited access to Munich and surrounding vicinity. We also purchased 2 weeks pass for 2, 36 euros, to many palaces and casltes (that includes world famous "Swan Casles" and many other palaces/casltes around Munich). Ate simple breakfast and lunch, but had a wonderful dinners! Visit Dachau Nazi Concentration Camp - it will open your eyes!

Brilliant hotel if you want to stay in central Munich. It's very close to the Englisher Garten - well worth a walk round if you have time and want a break from the city. The hotel is a 10 to 15 min walk to Marienplatz. The city centre is not that big so you could pretty much walk it all from this hotel. We used the Underground now and again when we were feeling lazy or wanted to get round lots of the sights and the beer halls. I recommend the Hofbrauhaus by the way (just off Marienplatz) - really good fun with a brass band every night, and it's cheap too. The hotel is really comfy, warm and quiet. It has good size rooms (one reviewer's photos makes the room look small, but ours was a great size). There's a big wardrobe, shelves, big dressing table and drawers, mini-bar and a really nice bathroom with very good shower. Comfy bed too. The pillows were a bit strange - a big square that you fold in half - they were too soft for me so I asked the cleaning lady for an extra one, and she brought it straight away. Very friendly staff in this hotel - they'll also look after your bags on your last day if you have a wait for your flight after checking out. A great value central hotel!

My brother and I stayed at the Golden Leaf the end of May '07. We found the room to be clean and right next to the elevator, which was convenient. The staff spoke English and was very helpful in answering any questions about the city. The room was on the second floor right next to the Golden Leaf sign outside. The room was cleaned each morning. The hotel is located on a quiet street. At night we slept with the window open, as there is no A/C, and were not disturbed. There was construction going on across the street during the day though. The construction didn't bother us as we spent very little time at the hotel during the day. My only complaint would be the steep price of breakfast. Breakfast was a typical European version of a "continental breakfast" with meats, cheeses, rolls, cold cereal, coffee and juice. Upon check out we were surprised to find breakfast was 12 Euro per person. You can do much better at a local restaurant. There is a wonderful bakery located on St. Anna-Strasse. The subway is about 3 blocks south from the hotel on this street. You will find the public transit system very easy to navigate. The hotel is quite a bit further from Marienplatz than what it looked on the map, but walking distance to Englisher Garden, which is worth the visit. Be sure to check out the surfers in the river on Prinzregentenstrasse.
