This hotel was NOT a four star! I found it to be not very good considering the price and what you can get for that price in neighbouring countries... maybe not a fair comparison, but I have trouble paying the same price for an inferior hotel in Lithuania as compared to Helsinki!
While there was nothing actually "wrong" with the hotel, the building had all the charm of a former soviet apartment block that was renovated in the early 90's right down to very ugly carpets. The shower was super small and the doors were sort of broken and didn't close all the way and the maid unplugged my laptop while cleaning, which really pissed me off. Also, the location is terrible unless you have business at the parliament buildings. From online research it seemed to be around 10 min walk from the "action," but that wasn't quite so, I didn't even find the charming part of the city until day 2. Front desk staff were friendly and breakfast was ok.

I really did not find it to be a four star hotel!
1. It is very hard to find it if you are driving. Although that was not my first visit to Vilnius, I had to spend a lot of time driving around and trying to find where the hotel is as well - where to park my car. The hotel is on one-way street and the parking at the hotel is for 4-5 cars.
2. They told to us that they have not received any information on reservation from --- which made approx. 40 EUR difference from the price we expected :(
3. The room was in attic, very small and was not the value of the money paid.
4. The bathroom was not heated. The towel rack was cold as well. The shower didn`t have appropriate pressure and the water in the shower did not run away properly.
5. Free-drink etc. coupons for strip bars really did not make me sure this is family friendly hotel.

Secondo me non è un 4 stelle

Non credo proprio che il Ratonda rientri nella categoria 4 stelle! 1.
Ideal place to stay

We stayed at the Ratonda for three nights at the end of October and found it an excellent place to stay. It was very clean, recently refurbished I think, good value for money and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was served until 10am midweek and 11am on the weekend and was more than adequate with an extensive choice of hot and cold food. The restaurant was open for lunch and dinner and although it looked inviting we ate out in the excellent choice of restaurants in the locality.
On the down side the hotel is situated down a backstreet! don't be put off by this it is just off the main shopping street and I suspect it would be very difficult to find a room with a view in this area. The main street Gedimino Avenue is 2 km long with the old town a 20 minute walk one end and Parliment square 10 minutes the other.
There are plenty of good bars and restaurants nearby we particlarly liked the Rudolf 2 bar just around the corner selling cheap beer and excellent food and Avrilys brewery and restaurant nearer the old town. There are lots of casino's, strip clubs and lap dancing bars around but easily avoided if they are not to your taste.
On Vilnius itself, wonderful place get there before 2009 when it has been voted European city of the year!! I suspect it will change the signs are already there, pedestrianising the main street and various other work. At the moment it is a lovely city to explore with suprises around every corner, I recommend the half day tour around the city. One word of warning taxi's from the airport overcharge book one in advance if you can.

Stayed for four nights at the Ratonda, and it was a pleasurable experience. We found the staff very helpfull as there was 14 of us of various ages in the group. Breakfast was OK and self service. We had a variety of rooms and there were no complaints from the party. Beer in the Bar was expensive at 10litas, only 4-6 litasoutside in nearby cafes, but the little courtyard made us happy to drink some of the time at the hotel. About 20-25 minutes walk to the Old Town but a straight walk down the main avenue. Very safe city at night and we encountered no problems in this beautyfull city. We will return in the future and happy to stay at the Ratonda.
