Having terrible experience at Barcelona airport to wait for our luggages for 2 hours, we arrived at Catalonia Princesa Hotel at very late night, around 11:30 pm. We heard many bad comments on Barcelona hotel of kicking customer out from hotel door even with advance booking, we worry our room is no longer reserved for us in such late check in.
Well, yes, the hotel staff really told us that all the rooms are occupied. But appreciate their service, the hotel already reserved a room in another hotel of their group, which is a 4 star hotel located at La Ramblas area. The location of that hotel is wonderful and the rooms are big & clean. We are transferred to that hotel at hotel cost and no need to pay extra because of upgrading from 3 star to 4 star hotel.
We appreciate the good arrangment of Catalonia Princesa.

First impression : where am I falled ? street is narrowed people ,seems not friendly . Then you acceed, and inside is quite great. We had room on 7th floor , was nice for the view on the Arc de Triomf . The narrow street takes you to the Palau de la Musica and Rambla . Many old and nice shops on this route .
Definitely great quality for 100 ?/night in Barcelona, no breakfast incl.
This hotel values its 3 stars and I will come back again .

Didn't like this hotel at all, staff were surly and very unhelpful. The location of the hotel is not too far away from the Ramblas but is in a secluded area with small streets and reknown for travellers being mugged. We had heard of the reknowned mugging in Barcelona and a review on Trip Advisor mentioned a mugging in the square just outside this hotel, but never thought it would come to anything or that it would happen to us. How wrong we were, gangs of young people hang around waiting for opportune moments and unfortunately we had to experience being mugged too. Nobody does anything about it and the police are not interested. Be warned do not stay at this hotel as the room is particularly small and dirty, the staff are particularly unhelpful, the breakfast is o.k if you can get any before they start putting it away and if you do not wish to be mugged. I HAVE WARNED YOU.

this was a nice hotel with a nice location near the metro station.
We did not experience any problems concerning the neighbourhood and would stay there again.

Selected this hotel after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. Fully expected to be mugged at the very least! Okay, the street looks a bit dodgy (especially at night) but we had no problems. The hotel itself is very clean and modern. The bathrooms were spacious to say the least and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The buffet breakfast was fantastic-the works!
Would I stay again? Absolutely! Barcelona is a huge city and two days wasn't enough time to see it.
