I was very, very happy staying at the Klepperman in Hoevelaken. The hotel staff couldn't possibly have been more helpful. The breakfast was excellent-everything was fresh.
The rooms were very comfortable.
I love quaint, relatively small hotels in rural areas-away from the hustle and bustle of the city. This hotel totally fit the bill for me.
It is close walking distance to the center of a small shopping area and a 10 minute drive to Amersfoort.
I always travel with a rental car so transportation is never a problem for me. I do not know anything about public transportation in the area.
I will definitely go back again and again.
I am a big coffee drinker. The only thing missing in the hotel were coffee makers in the non executive rooms and buying several cups of coffee a day at the restaurant can get quite expensive.
Loved it!

The hotel and the room are larger than I expected for old farmhouses in suburban Netherlands. It is quite sufficient for a business traveler and maybe for a 1-night stay as a tourist. However, they DO NOT have alarm clocks or coffee makers in the rooms. Also, the king beds are actually 2 twins next to each other and the bed covers are just a duvet in a cover, so there is no separate sheet. Its not that big of a deal, but if the room is warm, you have either hot covers or no covers. But the towels are very large and thirsty. The breakfast is good, but get it included in the room cost, or it is very expensive.

This is a cosy hotel set in a quaint small town about 1 hour from Amsterdam. The town of Hoevelaken is about 6 kilometres from the nearest train staition called Amersfoort. There is a bus running once every hour, or grab a taxi at a a cost of about 20 euros. On the other hand, if you have a car it's great as the hotel is very near the A1 motorway and there is plenty of parking.
There is nothing to do in Hoevelaken itself really, and everything closes early. By 9pm on a Sunday it's completely dead - so if peace and quiet is what you are looking for this is the place.
The hotel itself has quite a high standard, easy to navigate round and it's only two stories high. A downside to this is that many of the rooms are on ground level and face the car park. There is hardly any noise from the car park but if you open the glass door someone could easily sneak in to your room. There is luckily a window you can open instead, to get some air.
The rooms themselves are of average size, a double has a separate bathroom, double bed, desk, TV, cupboards and a small table and two chairs. The bathroom are nice and clean and practical rather than luxurious. The rooms have *no* aircon so it probably gets really hot in the summer. The TV offers 11 channels and an additional 4 pay TV channels. The 11 channels are all Dutch, but where they screen English-language channels they will be subtitled.
There is also a minibar in the rooms with all the usual items. Roomservice is fast and you can even get lighter snacks 24 hours a day. The main menu finishes at 11pm and the food is great - I had a lovely tomato soup followed by poached salmon on a bed of noodles with cheesecake for dessert. It's not cheap though and the hotel charges an extra 7 euros for each roomservice order.
Breakfast is served in a lovely restaraunt filled with Dutch farming memorabilia and glass/porcelain. There is eggs, bacon and sausages, a variety of fresh bread, ham, cheese, youghurt, cerals and juices.
Service is friendly and helpful (albeit a bit slow). There is also a gym with a jacuzzi and steam room but I have not tried these.
