This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The front desk was mad I had brought my own computer. Gave me a room over looking a roof, which was full of pigeons and crap. They tried to charge me for breakfast I never had. When they finally gave me the access numbers to the internet it was for 3 nights only and I was staying 4 nights. Had to get an addtional night. By going to the lobby and practically begging for it. Hotel is located within everything, but Madrid is not that large of a city to start with. Located next to the tattoo parlors and hookers. Rooms are extremely small and dated. Don't believe the photos! Bed was as hard as a rock, if not harder. Very noisey!

Myself and five of my friends stayed at the Arosa from April 30th to May 2nd (2 nights). We were in Madrid to celebrate my 40th birthday.
We had 3 rooms between us. The rooms were booked through the Hotel Club website. We each paid ?70 for the 2 nights which also included breakfast.
All 3 rooms looked out onto the court of the hotel which wasn't the best of views. But we didn't mind too much as we didn't intend on stopping too long in the rooms anyway.
The rooms were clean and spacious. The bathroom was larger than most that I've encountered and was spotless. The shower was very powerful.
Breakfast was served on the 2nd floor. It was buffet style and offered cereals, Japanese rice & soup, plenty choice of fruits, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, cooked meats, bread, tea, coffee, milk & juices.
Not all of us made breakfast during our stay but those that did commented on how good it was. The scrambled eggs were well raved about by 1 of our party, who also managed to eat 4 plates of food!!
The hotel is in an ideal location for getting around Madrid. It'sjust off the Gran Via. It's within 10 minutes of Plaza Mayor, and even nearer to Sol Square. The Gran Via metro is a 2 minute walk from the hotel although we never used it. We preferred to walk around the city.
Overall I liked the hotel. The staff were very courteous and enjoyed it that we made an effort to speak a little Spanish when dealing with them.
I wouldn't say that the hotel is a 4 star though. More likely a 3 star.
I'd recommend it to friends, etc and on my next visit will check to see if it's available and that the price is competitive.

A good location but not as described on their web site. We were a party of 6 (3 double rooms). Advertised as tea and coffee in rooms but that seemed to be a real problem. Advertised as having an iron and ironing board - non - existent!
Lifts - 2 - one takes three, one takes 6 (well really 4). Better to walk up or down but we had one wheelchair and one other with walking difficulties!
Internet / wifi - can't send / receive mail unless you use webmail based prog.
Rooms - tired.
Language - good English at reception but other staff no chance so problem with room service.
Overall - not a 4*, would struggle to make 2* in some places.
Would I go back? - No.
