We were in town for the NEA Representative Assembly and were so fortunate to have stumbled across the Henley. From the minute we arrived we were greeted by the glowing smile of the front desk clerk, Henry. His friendliness and willingness to help out made our stay that much more enjoyable. Throughout our stay we kept approaching him with inquires and he always had his same bright smile. When we asked where we could find some delicious food, he recommended Coeur De Lion, the restaruant on site. That was one excellent suggestion because we fell in love with the juicy, tender wings from their bar menu and the chicken Veronique from the Sunday brunch menu. Topping the excellent food was the cheerful service from Fausto and Alexandria. The staff is what made us want to go back each and every time! Our only concern was the noise level due to construction that did not allow us to sleep in on the only day that we could. Aside from the noise, the location was great. We were right across from the Convention Center and the other hotel where we had to transfer to once our convention began. We wish we had stayed at the Henley for our entire stay because we did not run into anyone as friendly and helpful as Henry at the other hotel... We' ll definitely be staying at the Henley when we return to DC in 4 years! We're sure the construction will be done by then and hopeful you'll still have Henry, Fausto and Alexandria working there or else other staff that are just as great at they are!

My wife and I stayed at the Henley Park for three nights in June 08, as a city tour/vacation following a business visit based in another hotel. The Henley Park is a great oasis, very nicely decorated in public areas and welcoming frontal areas (drive and garden).
The room is fairly well equipped although not large, and we had to keep our suitcases etc on the floor. There was a safe in the room (badly installed and jammed in the cupboard door) and I couldn't get the safe to work anyway (and I'm not stupid); I asked reception about it twice - reception never came back to me to say whether they had fixed it or whether it was 'operator error' - but either way the safe never worked during our stay. There were coffee making facilities (with one coffee sachet provided...) and the corridors had a strong smell of aftershave!
The hotel is a bit off the beaten track - 'oasis' is about right as (during our stay) it was a pleasant island of greenery surrounded by building works (the adjacent building had been demolished and was being rebuilt) and a couple of the southbound streets on the way into the main city areas were being dug up. As other reviews have said, it is a bit of a hike to the nearest metro stations (Chinatown and Convention Center).
Personally we wouldn't stay here again for a city tour; it's a bit too far out, I'd pay a bit more for something more central (and with bigger room).

What a fabulous find! The hotel was a few blocks from 2 different Metro stops (Convention Center and Chinatown stops) but felt more peaceful or "out of the way" than most hotels in the heart of DC. The building had the intimate feel of an earlier, more genteel time, but the rooms were thoroughly modern and up to date. Bath and Body Works branded toiletries in the bathroom, flat screen TV with wide cable selection, and very high end bed linens were great touches. Tea is available from 4 - 6 pm (although I was unable to take part); hotel also has a bar and room service (possibly a restaurant too -- not able to confirm). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The other guests I encountered were similarly pleasant. Yes, construction is going on next door (I had a lovely view!), but they didn't start until 8 am when I was there. That worked for me. Great location and comfortable environment.

booked thru hotwire for $79.00. Great deal for the price. Older style room are small but remind me of new York. I had a double rooom on the third floor which was just fine. It faced Massachusetts ave tho which allowed alot of traffic noise. But it was not bad at all
Location is convenient with most of the things to see in walking diet to a short cab or metro ride away. Downside is that metro stops are 4blocks away.
Be aware that lobby amenities are sparse. There is a nice looking piano bar that doubles as the restaurant. Very quaint like something out of a 50's mystery movie.
Parking is valet and $28. Some street parking is avail and neighborhood is decent (although dc is dc)
At $250 there are better bargains. But at $79. In downtown dc. I am thrilled!!!!!
