This is a lovely, modern hotel in a great location in Cologne. We booked a superior double room - it had a view of the Cathedral - lovely in the daytime but amazing at night when it was lit up - a real picture postcard view. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was large, modern and comfortable with all mod-cons. Soft drinks from the mini-bar were included in our rate. There was also a lovely big, luxurious bathroom with bath. Breakfast was superb - we stayed 2 nights - on the first morning the restaurant was packed and frenetic, but the second day we went a bit later and it was a lot better and more chilled out. The selection of food was superb - they even had chilled champagne. The atrium of the hotel is impressive - all glass and really tall. In this area are several restaurants, some shops and a piano bar. There is a very nice pool area and when we went we were the only people there. It is only a short walk from the hotel to the Altstadt area. Also the lively Heumarkt with its many bars and restaurants is even closer. We were especially impressed with a meal we had at Peters Brauhaus - a beer hall where the service was efficient (and really friendly) and the food was excellent. The back of the hotel is right on the Rhine and only 5 minutes walk from the chocolate museum - we enjoyed our visit there. An unmissable activity in the city is a trip on the cable car over the Rhine - you get a stunning birds eye view of the city, the cathedral and the busy river.

Two night break without the children. Absolutely faultless hotel, superb location, we walked into the city, and never needed a taxi or tram. The cathedral 'Dom' is magnificent, and you're spoilt for choice for restaurants on the banks of the Rhine. Flew into Bonn/Cologne airport, cost only 25 Euro to get to the hotel. Highly recommended

My husband and I went to this hotel to spend the weekend in Cologne. Maritim was wonderful! Overall a great stay. I would recommend it to everyone. The location couldn't be better. Right in the center of town, you can walk anywhere you go. Plus, there are restaurants, shops and a piano bar inside this hotel so that is convenient. Breakfast was included in our room and is a huge buffet. Everything you can think of. The food itself was good. Better than most we have had at other hotels. The hotel also has an inside pool, sauna, and a massage area. Very nice. The staff was nice. The rooms were of a decent size. The bathroom was adequate. Everything was clean. Only complaint: when we left to go checkout one elevator was broken and the other two were quite busy. Took us a while to get down to the bottom floor from our room floor. It was Sunday morning and there were plenty of people out and about which added to the confusion with the elevators. Great hotel. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

Wir sind leider sehr spät erst angereist, waren aber vom Eingangsbereich gleich überwältigt - eine große Glashalle mit vielen Geschäften und Restaurants - wir haben sogar noch ein Kölsch bekommen! Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und gut klimatisiert - kurz nachdem wir auf dem Zimmer waren (ca. 0:50 Uhr), wurden wir von der Rezeption angerufen und gefragt, ob wir denn noch hungrig seien, da das Speiserestaurant um 1:00 Uhr schließen würde, aber es noch Kleinigkeiten an der Hotelbar zu bekommen wären. Diese TOP-Dienstleistung hatten wir bisher noch in keinem Hotel!! Das Frühstücksbuffet war hervorrangend, trotz der vielen Gäste gab es keinerlei Wartezeiten oder Hektik. Wir waren rundum sehr zufrieden!

We were in Cologne, 15 - 18 December 2006 for the Christmas Markets (great fun!) and chose the Hotel Maritim based on the description of the hotel and its location. It not only did not disappoint - it exceeded our expectations. The modern 6 story hotel is situated overlooking the Rhine. One entire side of the room (548) was a window providing a lovely panoramic view of the Rhine. Hotel services were very good. The staff - from reception to room service - were genuinely friendly and very accommodating. The room was good sized with twin beds (which was a bit of a surprise) a table with 2 comfortable armchairs in front of the window, a desk with internet service; TV with English speaking channels CNN International / BBC World); in room safe and ample wardrobe space. Hosekeeping kept the room very well maintained. Bathroom was comfortable but not overly large. The location of the Maritim is absolutely perfect. It is within a very comfortable walking distance of the 6 Christmas Markets, the Cathedral, and the downtown shopping area. In the immediate vicinity we were spoilt for choice by the number of restaurants (German, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Argentinian, Mexican, Spanish) and beer gardens, not too mention bakeries and coffee shops. We honestly have nothing even marginally negative to say about our stay at the Maritim and the overall experience in Cologne. We highly recommend a visit to Cologne for the Christmas Markets with a stay at the Hotel Maritim.
