Ok, yes this place has a nice location but that was about it. i wouldn’t even visit heaven if i had to stay here again. i actually had to drink soo much that i had passed out to sleep there.
the con's -
1) 80's cheesy formica furniture that was warped and wouldnt even close.
2) Bed that felt like we were sleeping on a carving board and a pillow that felt like a rolled up towel in a bag.
3) Walls so thin that every time someone would open or close a door in a room up to 5 rooms away it felt like they were in my room.
4) No lock on the door (combine that with the fact that every time someone opened a door it sounded like they were opening ours) (try sleeping with that feeling.)
the pro's -
1) The key to my room made me feel like i won some distinguished medal of honor.
2) The reception/checkin/bellman/doorman/bartender guy (yes you’re reading that right) gave me a break and charged me only 5 euro's for my diet coke instead of 6.
3) I did not plummet to my death in the elevator. (even if it did only one person and a small carryon could die at a time)
4) Our TV had over 25 channels of static.
5) We only could afford to stay one night.
Bottom line -
I travel allot, i have stayed in more hotels that i can recall and this is definitely the worst room ever. Not to mention at over 300 euro's a complete rip off. Do not trust the pictures; seriously do not trust the pictures. For European students who are in the process of writing there manifesto’s living off some social euro welfare program while going to school this hotel may suffice (even though it is 300+ euro’s a night for the worst room), but if your american this is a clichéd, stereotypical european hotel at it's worse.
American travelers be warned.

Went to the bolivar despite the comments on trip advisor. The rooms were small (we were in a triple) clean and comfortable. The loaction for a 1st time visit to Rome we found excellent. We found good close bars and Trattoria's. The desk staff were helpful and could not do enough to help us! NO they did not have internet but we were able to check into our return flights using the reception PC. When i mentioned my room was a bit small i was shown other rooms if i had wished to move but we stayed as we were not in the room that much. It was harder to get the lady in the breakfast room to smile but we cracked that on day 4. Breakfast was simple and the coffee from the urn is terrible however dont be afraid to ask for a cappicino- we did and the coffee was much better if delivered with only a minor scowl!!
yes i would go back

If you get a room on the 1st floor - reject it and ask for the 2nd or 3rd

We booked this hotel because of the location and reasonable price. The pictures on the website of the rooms looked quite grand and clean, boasting of Jacuzi bath, internet and satalite TV.
On arrival we were allocated our room on the 1st floor. The lock on the door was falling off, the room itself was so small you could not walk around the bed, the wall covering was well past its best with staining as was the carpet. The bathroom was pretty disgusting with a cracked toilet seat , mould in the shower. and no Jacuzi bath . On top of this, when I asked about the interrnet I was told it was wireless connection only and you must have your own laptop !
I spoke to the Receptionist and asked if they had another room and was given the keys for a room on the 2nd floor. Straight away it looked better with a tiled corridor from the lift rather than a grubby carpet and modern doors to the rooms with swipe cards.
The room although again very small was quite delightful, a complete contrast with tiled flooring, ornate ceiling frescoes, chandalier and a spotless modern bathroom with shower and Jacuzi bath !! I asked the Receptionist the cost to upgrade and was given the room at no extra cost which was quite a relief.
It appears that all rooms on the ground, 2nd and 3rd floor are as described and pictured on the website however those on the 1st floor look like they are awaiting modernisation and would not qualitfy for 1 star.
This hotel was great once we received a room that we believed we had booked from the description on the website. It was an ideal location within walking distance of most places. The breakfast was adequate although the tea and coffee were pretty bad. The only real drawback was the lack of internet access. Wireless facilities are great however not everyone want to take a laptop on holiday.
I would book this hotel again as it was a fair price and in a good area however I would specifiy that I would not want a room on the 1st floor. Basically, if when checking in they pass you a traditional room key ask for another room (these are the grotty rooms). If they give you a swipe card you won't have a problem.
Hope this information is of benefit.

This was a great hotel for the money we paid. I knew when i booked it wouldnt be 5 star - i was realistic about it all and to be honest, having just come back, i was pleasantly suprised by the standard, hence the 4 out of 5. The hotel was very handily placed for the Colisseum in one direction and Trvei fountain in the other. I had a wife and 2 kids with me and we walked everywhere easily. Front counter staff were always were friendly and helpful, rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day - couldnt ask for more. Breakfast was continental but substantial - scambled or boiled eggs, italian hams, cheeses, croissants, pastries, cereals, orange juice, tea/coffee etc - it was enough for us all. Room was a family room, yes it was tight, but remembering the money i paid, it was adequate - crucially, the shower was good and supplied all the hot water we needed. Please note, i am a fussy person and i would have written if the hotel was crap - it wasnt, it was very good - there was one night when we were disturbed by noise - please note that there is a small pend or alley that goes outside the hotel and our room - we heard 2 gentlemen a bit worse for wear singing in what can only be described as perfect harmony - the four of us sat there and had a great laugh. It was a fab experience, we had a great time - dont let other reviewers put you off - for the money, it was charming and we had a great time.

We stayed at this hotel at the begining of December. After the shall i say hair raising taxi drive from the airport, was a bit perturbed because we got dropped off in a back lane!! However, that was where the hotel was based, perhaps for the best because would NOT have liked to have been staying in a hotel on a main street in Rome, traffic is mad!!
The hotel looks in need of a bit of decoration to the front, but its not shabby. Contrary to other reviews the staff on reception ( and very soon after the bar) were friendly and efficient. Our rooms were comfortable, slightly musty smelling and a bit dim lit, but nothing I would cry myself to sleep over. Ooh and after an onset of sciatica while we there i needed a bath and we had no plug, but that was sorted within five minutes when we informed the staff.
the breakfast room had FAB views, over the rooftops. The breakfast was continental, and buffet style, so you could fill your boots before your day of action. Only thing was the tea was VILE!! they did start serving brekkie dead early though which is good cos you need to start early if youre exploring rome.
The hotel was nicely located, in good walking distance for trevi fountain, pantheon, colusseum, spanish steps to name a few. We even managed to walk to the Vatican and st peters square, and it only took about an hour ( and was where we got engaged!!!)
All in all i would go here again, no problems at all, nothing but good memories.
