Good location. Not far from Spanish Steps. Large room but was difficult to access - Lots of lifts, corridors and stairs. Room was clean. Airconditioning good. Staff not very helpful relative to other places we stayed. Four star but appeared more like a 3 Star hotel. Lounge Bars were 4 to 5 star.

Good wine in a small barrel

In Italy we say something like "The good wine is in a small barrel".
This applies perfectly to Valadier Hotel. Everything was excellent: great location, extremely friendly and helpful staff, one of the best breakfast buffet I found in Europe, very nice roof level restaurant & cocktail bar with a breathless view over the roofs of Rome (a terrific place for a drink, I had not the chance to enjoy the restaurant) .
The "barrel" is small though... extremely clean but quite small. Thankfully, since we were staying just for 4 nights, our luggage was reasonable sized and we could easily accomodate it, but the room available was barely enough for two adults and a kid. Bathroom was just the same, well equipped and spotless clean, but very, very small.
I would definitely recommend this hotel... but take care over your luggage size!

The Valadier Hotel, Rome has a good central location (Near P. de Popolo) but was very pricey. Our room was very small for a 4 star hotel, and personally I found the beds extremely hard (anyone not into orthopaedic sleeping should steer clear of this hotel). I travelled with an older person and although there were lifts you had to come down 6/8 steps on entering the hotel so not accessible for person with walker or wheelchair. We made the mistake of ordering a drink at rooftop restaurant and paid a whopping ?14 for one Gin+Tonic. The staff were pleasant but on the whole I would not be making a return trip to this hotel.

We have just returned from three nights (four days) in Rome and have to say we were more than pleasantly surprised by the Hotel Valadier!! Having read lots of info about the size of hotel rooms in Rome we were more than happy by the size of our room for our length of stay - may have been a bit cramped had our stay been longer. The location is fantastic! We walked everywhere, Vatican, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and best of all the Colosseum - do take a guided tour as this includes the forum also. We ate in the hotel's restaurant next door on our first night as had been travelling since 4am and the food was excellent. We also went up to the roof terrace bar one evening for a pre dinner cocktail but after waiting to be served for 15mins decided to go else where, the staff didn't seem that interested if you were not having dinner up there. It is very expensive even by Rome standards!
Fantastic location - would stay here again!
